Feti Vogli, 31 years old, the father of a little girl, was killed yesterday after an attack by Afghan forces on the soldiers of the international forces providing assistance in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Aleksandër Peçi, 24 years old, is reported by the Ministry of Defence to be in poor condition. According to our Ministry of Defence, the incident occurred at 15:05 Afghan local time, or 11:30 Albanian time. But officials from this ministry released the news at 18:00, at a time when in Tirana the event announced for the celebrations of the 21st anniversary of the toppling of the dictator Enver Hoxha's bust had just begun and was about to end.

Editorial BY AFRIM KRASNIQI The Heritage of 20 February The date 20 February has already taken its place in our public memory. During the days of 18-20 February 1991, students at the University went on a hunger strike as an extreme protest against the coexistence of pluralism and the dictator, for a final and definitive break with the symbols and negative legacy of communism. Many citizens in Tirana, Durrës, Vlorë, Korçë, Shkodër, Gjirokastër joined the students, and statues of the dictator were brought down everywhere. Before 20 February, Albania was officially in pluralist democracy, but de facto little had changed. The regime mobilized to defend the dictator's statues, while the opposition, in the service of delaying the elections, accepted the offer and the collaboration of the departing regime. With little difference between them, the two sides found themselves on one side, the students on the other. The result is known. The dictator fell, the regime provoked civil clashes, and the parties by consensus closed the universities and the elections were controlled by PPSH, postponing not only in calendar terms, but by a year, the rotation of the political system. 20 February deserves respect. Every participant in that strike is proud of what they did, although history proved almost ungrateful and even cynical December 8 brought down the party-state and fear, 20 February...
