The 52nd RTSH Festival will not only bring back the image of the outstanding singers from the 11th festival, but will also return the two presenters Edi Luarasi and Bujar Kapexhiu live on stage. The organizers’ surprise is revealed, while there are still 15 days left until the start of the 50th edition of the festival. Comment BY PREÇ ZOGAJ The European Union’s decision whether or not to grant Albania candidate-country status remains an enigma. Even though we have entered December and normally the government should know before anyone else whether we are getting it or not. The status issue cannot be like those Voice of Albania or Faxtor Plus contests, where contestants wait with frozen hearts behind the door to see what the jury will decide. Unfortunately, whether we like it or not, that is how it has ended; that is the level to which Albania’s wait for status has fallen. Such an important application, submitted by Prime Minister Berisha back in the summer of 2009, is expected to receive approval in the final seconds, in a discussion surrounded by a multitude of question marks and doubts, where nothing seems certain and where only a forced compromise in the form of a merciful deus ex machina can save us. This is extraordinary compared with the way states compete and are assessed when they want to become part of the Western political, military and economic organizations.
