Greetings from comrade Ramiz Alia addressed to the people on the occasion of the New Year holiday Dear sisters and brothers, workers and peasants, intellectuals and soldiers, young men and women! On behalf of the Central Committee of the Party of Labour of Albania and in my own personal name, I warmly wish you a Happy New Year! The year we have just ended was a year of important events. At the last session of the People’s Assembly of the ninth legislature, the attempts to discredit socialism and to hinder the progress of our country were rejected with indignation. As in the past, the Party of Labour of Albania will continue firmly on its Marxist-Leninist path. All our victories are tied to this correct line. In the year that has passed, comrade Enver Hoxha remained an unfading inspiration for our people. The year 1990 finds us with great tasks for economic development, for strengthening the socialist order, for improving the well-being of the masses, for defending national independence and popular sovereignty. Our people are determined to meet these tasks successfully. Socialist Albania will not be shaken from its course. May this year be a year of work, discipline, unity and faith in our own forces! Happy New Year!
