Uninterrupted Development of the Fatherland

On the day of 11 January The pride and strength of our people for 11 January 1946 have grown even more as they move along the road of socialism, independence, and development. On this 44th anniversary of the People's Socialist Republic of Albania, our country looks confidently toward the future, while commemorating with respect the glorious path of the Party and comrade Enver Hoxha. 11 January 1946 marks the crowning of the historical victories of the National Liberation War and of people's power. Since that day, the Albanian people, under the leadership of the Party of Labour of Albania, have built with their own forces the foundations of the socialist economy, developed industry, collectivized agriculture, raised education, science and culture, strengthened the defense of the country, and elevated the image of socialist Albania on the international arena. On this anniversary, citizens, workers, cooperative peasants, intellectuals and revolutionary youth reaffirm their determination to defend the victories of socialism and to carry forward the tasks of the plan. 11 January comes as a day of national pride and of high civic responsibility for continuing the work that has begun.

In conversations with workers and technicians, memories returned of the difficult years of construction and of the major changes brought by the Republic. In the mechanics unit, an older worker told how once even the simplest tools were lacking, whereas today modern equipment and more advanced processes are used. “These are the fruit of socialism and of our work,” he said. In the laboratory, a young engineer spoke about this year's research plans and the goal that every useful idea should be turned into production growth. The report also stops at the new apartment blocks, nurseries, schools and cultural institutions, which residents see as an inseparable part of their new life. 44-Year Combat Activity of Socialist Albania

. — On the occasion of 11 January, the 44th anniversary of the Republic, the successes of the country in all fields were recalled in Tiranë and the determination to defend the victories of socialism was emphasized. In speeches and commemorative meetings it was said that the Albanian people, under the leadership of the Party, have stood unwavering in the face of every hostile attempt and have moved forward with their own forces. The role of the army, the working class and the youth in the construction and defense of the socialist homeland was underlined. The participants expressed their belief that the new year will bring further achievements in the economy, culture and well-being.
