A DELAY IN THE GREENHOUSES TODAY COSTS A LOT TOMORROW
Horticulture is ensured through daily work
- DIRE -
The first months of the year brought unsettled weather. Strong frosts followed one after another. All this did not leave the greenhouse teams in Lushnjë equally calm. Numerous protective and biological measures were needed to avoid the consequences and overcome this situation successfully. But while the greenhouse team of Stërnë is in excellent condition, the greenhouses of Gjocaj were delayed, which affects the full use of the area and the pace of production. In some blocks, planting according to schedule has not yet been carried out. In such conditions, any delay in the greenhouses today costs a lot tomorrow.
155 hectares of plastic greenhouses, plus tunnels and nurseries, represent an important potential for increasing the production of fresh vegetables in the winter and early spring months. For this reason it is essential that work rhythms be increased, that all measures be taken for heating, fertilisation, irrigation and biological protection, that technical control be tightened, and that accountability be required for every day lost.
SCHOOL AS A REGENERATING FORCE OF KNOWLEDGE
After a week of classes, the students have returned to their school desks. While the teacher, as always, is attentive to the progress of the teaching programme, their efforts are being directed more insistently and with special attention toward deepening understanding and reasoning. In particular, the school keeps in mind special forms of student activation, especially for the good and very good students, who play a visible role in raising the level of the whole class. These days of teaching, the students of the 8-year «Naim Frashëri» school and of the industrial secondary school in Librazhd have held consultations and a variety of activities to review and deepen the lessons of the first quarter. The holiday days have also been used to good effect by many teachers and students from other schools in this district.

WE MOVE FORWARD ON THE ROAD WE HAVE CHOSEN OURSELVES
— Interview with the Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers, comrade Foto Çami, given last night to Albanian Radio-Television —
In the conditions of the technical-scientific revolution and the high level of knowledge and specialisation of our time, solving the question of staffing requires a working system that is as organised and scientific as possible. Alongside this, the experience of a generation of specialists of mature age, with qualifications and rich experience gained in the process of work, of wise, calm people with broad culture, should not be underestimated or set aside. This is how our Party has thought and acted. These experienced specialists are a great force that significantly helps in achieving the new problems more successfully, for the solution of which the energies and fresh contributions of young cadres are rightly mobilised as well. It has never been, and is not now, farsighted to send capable specialists into retirement too quickly, without carefully transferring experience to the young cadres. This would damage the economy and reduce its creative force. These days we were very pleased to learn about and publicly greet 17 retired oil and gas workers who are currently taking on the task of training new cadres in these branches, which are of great importance for the country’s economy. Specialists of mature age have been treated with the same care in the Ministry of Light Industry and Food Industry. There the work has been organised in such a way that they not only deal with new problems, but also stay close to the younger specialists. In particular, we have noted that very good working relations have been established there between experienced specialists and young specialists, which contributes to the professional growth of the latter and to the creation of mutual respect for knowledge and experience. In order to eliminate any foreign influences, we are ensuring that our school, as it should, prepares cadres with a high scientific and professional culture. One of the urgent requirements of our development is raising the level of teaching, education, and the link between theory and practice. From this point of view, even more work and care are required from our educational and scientific institutions.
Istanbul’s shoddy mess inspires you
— BREMAT —
Last year up to 8 October, at berth number 2,000, 1,700 wagons with 165,114 tons of goods from abroad arrived at the port of Durrës. This is a sufficient figure to show as fact that the workers of station 1800 in Durrës have achieved noticeable results in loading and unloading them. This project, so important for the depot, the railway and the entire station, was timely in the hands of the UBT locomotive and the specialist who, with their inseparable and devoted work, set the tone for the daily work. That is the reason why this station keeps its pace high and achieves its indicators well. In this success, the loading and unloading brigades and the other workers also have no small share of merit.
Decisive directions for vegetable production
— PREMIER? —
The objective of this season is to produce and consume 250 tons more fresh vegetables than last year. In this framework, technical and organisational measures must be more concrete. The completion of open works, late planting, heating and agrotechnical services require strong work discipline. Special responsibility must be given to the care of growing plants, ventilation, watering and the fight against diseases. Each greenhouse team must keep the daily pace of work and the quality of every process under control. Only in this way will the plan be fulfilled and high yields secured.
With clear tasks
In many collectives and enterprises in the country, working meetings have been held to implement the tasks of the month of January. Production, discipline and material-technical supply indicators have been analysed. At these meetings it was stressed that the fulfilment of objectives requires better organisation, daily follow-up and a fight against any manifestation of negligence. The necessity of activating internal reserves and using raw materials and energy sparingly was also emphasised.
For greater production from the green complex
— DURRES —
The finishing of the greenhouses and the preparation of seedlings are progressing at satisfactory rates in the green complex of Durrës. In these days, additional forces have been mobilised to organise the plots and speed up planting. In specific areas, new work schemes have been applied, which are producing encouraging results. Special attention is being paid to maintaining temperature, ventilation and irrigation, so that the plants enter production as early as possible. The workers of this complex aim to fulfil the first-quarter plan and to supply the market better with fresh vegetables.
