It is not enough to accept that our success is the fruit of the work and thought of today; we must create new conditions for further progress, for new and higher rates of development. This means making better use of our resources, understanding our potentials more fully and exploiting them in a more comprehensive way.
These are the requirements facing us today. They are closely linked to the processes of our economy, to the improvement of management and organization, and to the further mobilization of the creative forces of the people. The year 1990 will be a year of work and major demands.
In the fields of industry, agriculture and construction, the objectives are clear: increased production, improved quality, greater efficiency. This requires greater responsibility, discipline and initiative. The spirit of change and expansion must be felt in all links of economic life.

Let the spirit of socialist competitions for higher achievements be ignited everywhere
— Non-formal[?] of the central commission of socialist competitions —
They have worked with accumulated experience, constantly improving the forms of competition organization, linking it more closely to the main plan indicators and to the demands of the time. Thus, in many work collectives, socialist competition has brought increased production, savings and greater discipline.
However, in some cases it has not been treated with the necessary seriousness; in some places it has been seen as a formality, in others the results have not been properly analyzed, and elsewhere creative initiatives have not been sufficiently valued. These weaknesses must be overcome.
It is necessary for competition commissions at all levels to be more active, to stimulate workers more, to monitor the implementation of tasks and to spread the best examples.

Optimism among the miners and geologists of Bulqizë
... today the mining cadres, in implementation of the plan tasks, are working to increase extraction and improve technical and economic indicators. In the mine, measures have been taken for better work organization, more rational use of the work front and the guarantee of safety.
The experience of past years is being used more effectively; specialists and brigades are coordinating their actions to achieve the objectives. Meanwhile, the geologists are continuing their searches to expand reserves.

The 66th anniversary of the death of V. I. Lenin is commemorated
... on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the death of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, commemorative events were held. His role and work in the history of the revolutionary movement and socialist construction were highlighted.
In various institutions and collectives, meetings, reports and exhibitions were organized. The participants emphasized the importance of Leninist teachings for strengthening ideological education and fulfilling current tasks.

On 4-6 January, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Mr. Humayun Rashid Choudhury, paid an official visit to the Republic of Albania. He was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Reiz Malile, and held useful talks on the expansion of bilateral relations.
