On the 70th anniversary of the National Congress of Lushnjë Yesterday, the 70th anniversary of the anti-imperialist National Congress of Lushnjë was celebrated in the city of Lushnjë. On this occasion, the Party Committee, the Executive Committee of the District People’s Council, and the Institute of History at the Academy of Sciences organized a commemorative meeting at the city cinema. Workers from workplaces and production centers, veterans, historians, young men and women, and other guests took part. Also present were member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the Party Central Committee, Comrade Foto Çami; member of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Chairman of the State Control Commission, Comrade Manush Myftiu; Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the People’s Assembly, Xhafer Spahiu; Minister of Education, Skënder Gjinushi; Chairman of the Committee for Culture and the Arts, Alfred Uçi; Deputy Chairman of the Academy of Sciences, Hekuran Mara; Chairman of the Executive Committee of the District People’s Council, Dhimitër Çili; as well as leading cadres of Party and state organs from neighboring districts. The meeting was opened by the first secretary of the District Party Committee, Themie Thomai, who said, among other things, that at a time when the great imperialist powers were conspiring in London at the Peace Conference in Paris in 1919 to partition Albania, representatives of the people, patriots from throughout the country, gathered in January 1920 in the city of Lushnjë, at the Congress that forcefully affirmed the complete independence of the Albanian state and the defense of its territorial integrity at all costs. The Congress of Lushnjë warned the great powers and the chauvinist states of the Balkans of our people’s determination to defend the freedom and independence of the Homeland, and its democracy and progress. As Comrade Ramiz Alia emphasized, «Our Albania, for which generations of patriots have fought and shed their blood, has always stood as an unconquered fortress. It will continue to be and stand so for as long as life endures». The commemorative address was delivered by Prof. Stefan Fanaq Pollo. An artistic program was presented for those attending. A scientific session was organized as part of the event. In the paper on «The development of the proceedings of the Co-[…]» […] after the First World War, when the existence of the Albanian nation was endangered, [they] warned the great powers and the chauvinist states that Albanians were ready to make every sacrifice, even to shed the last drop of their blood, against any decision that might endanger the country’s independence. In his paper, Perikli Çuko, an employee of the district historical museum, spoke about the activity of the Lushnjë preparatory committee, whose work enabled this great assembly to conduct its proceedings normally and proclaim the independence of the Homeland, and helped publicize the historic decisions of this national forum. In his paper, Ilir Bello, director of the district historical museum, focused on the important tasks facing the High Council and the National Government in Tirana in order to implement the historic decisions of this congress. In his paper, senior research associate Hysen Kordha stressed that the Congress of Lushnjë has been extensively covered in our historiography and in foreign historiography, … With Albania facing partition, representatives of the people, patriots from across Lushnjë, at the Congress that forcefully declared the complete independence of the Albanian state and the preservation the Balkans that Albanians were ready to make every sacrifice, to shed even might endanger territorial integrity and complete independence. In the paper entitled «The Development of the Proceedings of the Congress of Lushnjë and the Anti-Imperialist Spirit of Its Decisions», delivered by Ylli Myftiu, chairman of the Lushnjë district historians’ association, it was emphasized that the Congress of Lushnjë is one of the high points in the history of the Albanian people. It is the work of figures of the national movement, as life lasts». in his presentation about the activities of the Lushnjë initiative committee, whose work enabled the great assembly to conduct its proceedings normally and successfully, while taking a stand against the Durrës government and the imperialist powers that sought to sabotage the work of this assembly. The central subject of «The Echo of the National Congress of Lushnjë in the Press of the Time», a paper delivered by candidate of sciences Kaliopi Naska, was the major role played by the press, as life lasts». historiography and in foreign historiography, focusing on the fair and accurate assessment of this assembly by Albanian historiography. Comrade Ramiz Alia sends greetings to the workers of the Maliq Agricultural Enterprise on the occasion of the enterprise’s 40th anniversary The day before yesterday, the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the «8 Nëntori» agricultural enterprise of Maliq, Hero of Socialist Labor, in the district of Korçë, one of the pioneers of enterprises of this kind in our country, was celebrated. On the occasion of this anniversary, a commemorative meeting was held the day before yesterday morning at the «16 Tetori» House of Culture in the city of Maliq. Also present were Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Agriculture, Comrade Pali Miska; the district Party Committee’s first secretary, Comrade Vangjel Çërrava; the Gjergji Krastafillaku; and other comrades. The meeting was opened by the enterprise Party Committee secretary, Vladimir Çokulli. Amid the enthusiasm of those present, Comrade Pali Miska read the message of greetings that the First Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Comrade Ramiz Alia, had sent to the staff of the «8 Nëntori» agricultural enterprise of Maliq on the occasion of its 40th anniversary. Among other things, the message said: «The example set over a long period by the Maliq agricultural enterprise through the degree of production intensification, increased yields, and efficient use of material and labor resources shows all the farms in the country that progress in equipping and maintaining facilities is achieved through militant activity and civic responsibility, sound economic accounting, and qualified management. I am convinced that you will know how to build on the road you have traveled, on the work of the many agricultural workers who have shed sweat and toil, so that we may proudly rejoice together today, while striving for greater efficiency, production structures aimed at optimum levels, increased workers’ well-being, and the prosperity of the socialist countryside». The objective this year is to plant 1,000 hectares with new alfalfa and … The state agricultural enterprises of Povleçë and Roskovec were the farms whose achievements last year encouraged other farms to bring about a turnaround in livestock farming. Seventy years have passed since the days when the National Congress convened in Lushnjë and adopted important, major historic decisions. It powerfully expressed our people’s unbending will to defend the freedom and independence of the Albanian state and its territorial integrity. On this notable anniversary of this bright page in our modern history, we recall with respect and profound esteem the outstanding work of those patriots who, firmly supported by the people, in extremely critical circumstances—when the great imperialist powers, with their dark plans, had placed the existence of the state and the Albanian nation in question—gathered and, as Albanian honor and tradition demanded, mounted a courageous challenge to world imperialism. Their path and struggle, as Comrade Enver Hoxha defined it, «was not an easy path, a path of intrigue and abasement, of submission and fear before the stronger, but a path of armed struggle against savage external and internal enemies, open and disguised; a path cleared by the people with their chests, with sharpness and great political effort, with rifles in hand, with blood and countless sacrifices». Our people commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Congress of Lushnjë free and independent, in their inalienable homeland, masters of their country and their destiny, in unbreakable unity and united as one body around their Party of Labour, with Comrade Ramiz Alia at its head. They commemorate it amid the enthusiastic atmosphere created by the 8th and 9th Plenums of the Party Central Committee, with a feeling of justified pride in the great victories achieved during these 45 years of the people’s power. It has by now become a meaningful tradition at these anniversaries to turn our eyes to the heroic deeds of our forefathers, to discover and analyze ever more deeply the values they embody and the message they convey, and to bring to light our people’s vitality and bravery and their determination to live free and independent. For, as Comrade Ramiz Alia said, «To be proud of and love your history and your people is not nationalism. On the contrary, if we do not care about who we are, we cannot know where we are going or what we seek». These great values that we inherit and make our own through countless sacrifices». Albanian history is filled with great acts of patriotism and popular heroism that honor the homeland. It is rare to find in the world a country where the storms of history have so often struck from all four horizons with such terrible destructive force. Yet it is also rare to find in world history a people like the Albanian people, so deeply and steadfastly attached to their land, to freedom and independence, which have not merely been wishes and aspirations but the axis around which all their concerns have revolved for centuries, the foundation on which their political thought, social psychology, and national culture were built. It was precisely thanks to this bond and love of the homeland that Albanians stood firm and survived. Lushnjë was a confrontation with world imperialism by a people small in number but great in spirit and creative genius, in their determination to fight and win, and in the justice of their cause, which gave them an advantage over the great powers. Lushnjë synthesized a centuries-old tradition, rich in ideas and experience. In many respects, even in the most fundamental ones, the Congress continued the struggle to achieve the unfulfilled ideals of the National Renaissance: the ideals of independence, territorial integrity, and national sovereignty. It followed in the footsteps of those who had carved a path through history with sword in hand and nurtured a deep and unconquerable love of freedom. It was not the first time Albanians had gathered, given their pledge of honor, and taken up arms to save their beloved homeland. It was not the first time they had risen against the powerful of the world, who, separately or together, attacked them furiously and deliberately. Albanian history is filled with such Lushnjë marked a new stage on this glorious road. - KOLONJË - The good start in the cooperatives of this district is based on last year’s achievements, when all the enterprises met their targets. As always, in the vanguard are the miners of the Bezhan coal mine, who were the first to report that they had fulfilled January’s targets not only in industrial production but in its individual categories as well. We single out in this report the workforce of the collection and processing enterprise. Whereas last year this workforce ran up significant deficits in several categories, this month it is meeting all the indicators. - DIBËR - The chief engineer of the northern chromium mine in Bulqizë, Vehbi Musta, says that three intercepts at the 390 level confirm the structure of the ore body and open up further prospects at this level. This is one of the actions that the plenary meeting of the Party Committee of the District of Dibër had set for 20 January on the occasion of the 1990 actions, and it has been completed. In Bulqizë, the spirit of the campaign is growing. Yesterday, in response to the tasks set by the 9th Plenum of the Party Central Committee, the northern mine raised its daily overproduction quota by 100 tons. The second and third levels were the first to begin work toward February’s production, producing 97 and 185 more tons of chromium, respectively. On the occasion of cultural exchanges between Albania and Turkey, a concert was held last night in the hall of the Opera and Ballet Theatre, performed by the Opera and Ballet Theatre Symphony Orchestra with the participation of Turkish conductor and State Artist Hikmet Shimshek. The concert opened with the suite from the ballet «The Tenth Wound of Gjergj Elez» by the People’s Artist Feim Ibrahim. The Albanian artists then performed works from the program, including the suite from the Turkish ballet «Guzelleme» and Ludwig Van Beethoven’s fantasy for piano, choir, and orchestra in C minor, with Ekland Hasan as soloist. In the third part of the concert, the performers presented Symphony No. 4 in E minor, Op. 98, by Johan Brams, performed by the orchestra under the technically masterful direction of conductor Hikmet Shimshek. At the end of the performance, the Turkish conductor was presented with a bouquet of flowers. Workers from workplaces and production centers, cultural and artistic institutions, young men and women, etc., attended the concert. Also present were Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Culture and the Arts, Capajev Gjo[k]luli; the directors of the theater and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bajram Dine; and other comrades. Also in attendance were the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the People’s Republic of Albania, Teoman Surheklok, and the general director of the Ankara Opera and Ballet Theatre, Erol Gyngyergan. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Socialist Republic of Albania, Sokrat Plaka, who made an official visit to Greece, has returned to his homeland. During his stay in Athens, he met and held talks with the Secretary General of Foreign Affairs, Aleksandër Rafale. He also met with the Greek Foreign Minister, Antonis Samaras, the Deputy Minister of National Economy, Janis Draka[s], the Secretary General of the Ministry of Trade, Pavllos Ha[z]ithomal, and other dignitaries. At these meetings, which were held in a friendly atmosphere, the policy of good-neighborliness was once again emphasized, as were the strengthening and expansion of cooperation between the two countries in various fields, for their mutual benefit, as well as the need to further advance the process of Balkan cooperation and understanding.
