THE GENOCIDAL VIOLENCE AND TERROR IN KOSOVO MUST BE STOPPED AT ONCE

— Declaration of the Democratic Front of Albania concerning the tragic events in Kosovo “What is happening these days in Kosovo is a new criminal act of the politics of the Greater Serbian chauvinists, which aims at further terrorizing the Albanian population of Kosovo, in order to bring it to its knees before the frenzied anti-national hatred. What has happened in Kosovo is condemning before the world the undeniable truth that the Albanian people in Yugoslavia have been treated and are being treated as strangers on their own land. The anti-Albanian policy of the Yugoslav ruling circles, which has now become a state strategy, is deploying with unbridled ferocity its entire repressive and military machine against a defenseless population that is only demanding its legitimate rights,” the declaration of the Democratic Front of Albania on the tragic events in Kosovo states, among other things. As ATSH reports, this declaration harshly condemns the new bloody Greater Serbian crimes against the Albanians of Kosovo and strongly calls for an immediate end to this genocidal violence and terror. Further on, the declaration notes: The new barbaric act by the large Serbian police-military forces against the defenseless Albanians of Kosovo has deeply shaken democratic opinion around the world. It has made even clearer before the world the full set of incriminating evidence against the policy of violence and ethnic cleansing pursued by Belgrade against the Albanian population. The Albanian people, tied by blood and history to their brothers in Kosovo, are following the grave events of the past days with deep pain, anger, and indignation. They express full solidarity with the just resistance of the Albanians of Kosovo and demand that the massacres, arrests, persecutions, and state terror be stopped immediately. The Democratic Front of Albania calls on democratic forces, international organizations, progressive public opinion, and the governments of various countries to exert their influence to prevent further escalation of the situation and to protect the national and human rights of the Albanians in Kosovo. The declaration emphasizes that the Albanian people will never reconcile themselves with oppression, denial of rights, and the violence exercised over the Albanians of Kosovo. It supports their just struggle for freedom, equality, and national dignity. (ATSH) (Photo: N. Xhafa)

For the leisure time of rural youth

MORE CAN BE DONE — KORÇË. By making use of positive experience and looking more responsibly at the needs of young people in the countryside, the relevant organizations are trying to increase cultural and sports activities. In some centers, meetings, artistic performances, sports competitions, and other forms of entertainment have been organized, but more work is still needed so that rural youth can spend their free time in a useful and educational way. In the discussions it was said that the material base should be expanded, more cadres and activists should be brought in, and more suitable environments should be created for youth activities in the countryside.
