The decisions of the 9th Plenum of the Central Committee of the Party are of great importance for the present of the country and the people and for the future. The speech and the instructions of comrade Ramiz Alia delivered in Vlorë, before the collective of the higher agricultural institute, as well as the decisions of the plenum, constitute clear orientations for moving forward decisively on the road of reform, strengthening the economy, deepening socialist democracy, and defending the achievements of socialism. In our country, as has been emphasized, great efforts are being made to face difficulties, overcome backwardness and shortcomings, strengthen order, discipline, and responsibility in work and in social life. Our people and the party have always shown maturity and determination at decisive moments. Today more realism is required, more work and creative thought, more courage to change what must be changed, while unwaveringly preserving our socialist ideals. The tasks arising from the 9th Plenum are numerous. They are linked to the economy, the development of production, supply, improving the life of the people, increasing the role of the masses, broadening discussion and constructive criticism. These are not only matters for the leading bodies, but duties of every communist, worker, peasant, intellectual, and all working people. In this spirit, the responsibility of the press, the tribunes of public speech, the social organizations, and the state institutions themselves must also be seen. The country needs concrete work, greater efficiency, thrift, discipline, and a fight against foreign manifestations. On this path, it is necessary to support the best experiences, encourage initiatives, listen to the views of the people, and strengthen confidence in our own forces. The decisions of the plenum are a call to action and responsibility, a valuable orientation for the present and the future.

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the birth of comrade Hysni Kapo, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party of Labour of Albania, member of the Political Bureau and Hero of the People, commemorative events were held yesterday in the city of Vlorë. Party and state cadres, veterans of the National Liberation War, workers, cooperative members, young men and women took part in these activities. Wreaths of flowers were laid and the life and revolutionary activity of Hysni Kapo, his contribution to the Party and the people, were commemorated. In the speeches delivered, it was emphasized that his figure remains beloved by the masses and a high example of communist dedication.

In the commemorative events held on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the death of the Hero of the People, Luigj Gurakuqi, his figure was highlighted as an outstanding patriot, democrat, and fighter for progress. In Shkodër and in other places, tributes were paid, presentations were delivered, and Gurakuqi’s contribution to the national movement and to the development of Albanian education and culture was emphasized.
