Glorious is the Festival of Knowledge
Albanians throughout the homeland are celebrating 7 March today with joy — Teachers’ Day. The heartfelt greeting given to this day in every corner of the country, in town and village alike, embodies our people’s respect for dear teachers, for the beautiful tradition of our national and socialist education. 7 November, the liberation of the city of Korçë, laid in the foundations of our new state the first Albanian school as well. This school of light opened a new era in the spread of knowledge and culture, in the emancipation of the people and of Albanian women. Our public education became a strong foundation for the country’s development and for the growth of socialist consciousness. From the school benches came whole generations of pupils and students, many cadres for the economy, culture and defense, worthy sons and daughters of our people. In all the years of people’s power, the Albanian teacher has been a fighter of the Party line, an educator of the young generation with high ideals of patriotism, work and humanism. He has honorably shouldered the great duties assigned to him by the people and the Party. The achievements in education are clearly shown by the wide network of schools of all categories, the full enrollment of children in eight-year education, the expansion of secondary and higher education, the improvement in the quality of teaching and its connection with life and production. Our teachers work with dedication for the communist education of our youth, to make the school ever more closely linked with the demands of the times and socialist development. On this marked day, our people expressed gratitude to veteran teachers and to the new generation of educators, who devoutly serve the cause of light and knowledge.
