Çerik Can Speak Volumes About the March of the Orchards

AN EXAMPLE OF ENCOURAGEMENT The success of the farmers, in the fertilizing and cleaning campaign, has mobilized many citizens, students and pensioners, part-time cooperativists and others. The work is being carried out with dedication. Citizens from the city neighborhoods, as well as from the village, are responding with all their strength to the call of the collective of the city's agricultural production unit. Thus, at the Cerik Agricultural Enterprise, out of 5,000 olive trees planted to replace the old ones, the work has been completed on 1,600. The rest will be planted soon. Also in the pruning of the olive trees, which had to be finished, 150 people took part. Other works and services are also being carried out in agriculture. They have been undertaken voluntarily, with the support of the production collective, by citizens from the city neighborhoods, school students and pensioners, providing valuable help. In the vegetable brigade, more than 30 volunteers are working on preparing the land for early plantings. Meanwhile, in the fruit-growing sector, 220 volunteers have taken part, carrying out various works on time. In the field brigade, work is under way on collecting organic manure, land levelling and other tasks. Here, 500 citizens have worked. In the olive-growing area, as well as in the care of fruit trees, pensioners and activists have been numerous. This broad mobilization has turned into a valuable campaign and is helping to successfully accomplish the tasks. The front and women's organizations, as well as other social organizations, have also been mobilized to set an example of work. In Çerik one can truly speak at length about the March of the orchards [?], about mass mobilization and about the good spirit that has embraced the town and the countryside.

Growing Exhibition

— Experience from Vlora — In schools and production settings, the activity of exhibitions featuring teaching aids and students’ products has become widespread. In the district of Vlora, organizing exhibitions where tools, instruments, models, maquettes and various objects made by school students in cooperation with teachers and the production base are displayed is now a familiar practice. Comrade Myqso, the comrades of the teaching collective of the agricultural secondary school and the 8-year schools have opened exhibitions that testify to the growing creative abilities of the students. These include teaching aids for various subjects, simple devices, mechanical models, wood and metal work, paintings and drawings. These activities have great educational value and bind the students more closely to work. SILË QOQJA Distinguished teacher

This activity was valued as useful and further encouraged the creativity of the young. 2. A pedagogical and educational tradition has become established at the 8-year school „Liria” in the city of Shkodra. During various social and productive activities, its students landscaped a small garden near the school and continue to maintain it with dedication. In this flower garden, with an area of about 110 square meters, seasonal flowers, ornamental shrubs and several decorative saplings have been planted. SHOW BUSINESS SHAKES HANDS WITH THE PRESIDENT OF BRAZIL

The mother of the singer, Bret Tregner [?], whose life had been saved in a heart operation, publicly expressed her gratitude, on behalf of her son’s very existence, to the Brazilian doctors. She said that without the help of the specialist doctors, her life would have been in serious danger. Taking this statement into account, the singer decided to send the President of Brazil a symbolic gift. It was widely commented on as an example of American show-business publicity. The newspaper notes that sometimes even sincere gestures turn into instruments of propaganda. (ATSH)
