PATRIOTISM AND THE DEMOCRATIZATION OF LIFE — ONE AND INDIVISIBLE

“More united than ever with the party, which is made up first of all of all strata from our hands, from all our compatriots...” [?] The writer of the Party Committee of the district of Vlorë. He spoke about the importance of the country's independence and the necessity of democratization, emphasizing that these are inseparable. In our country, he said, socialist democracy has been steadily strengthened and our people have taken broad part in directing the affairs of the state and society. Today, when important processes are unfolding, greater responsibility, discipline, unity and patriotism are required. The workers' collective of the agricultural mechanics plant, on behalf of the workers and specialists, expressed its readiness to defend the achievements of socialism, to increase production and to fulfill the tasks of the plan. It was said that our country needs calm, work and confidence in its own forces. No one must allow the violation of constitutional order, national independence and the socialist perspective. As for the recent hostile actions, it was underlined that they have nothing in common with the interests of the people. Young people, the intelligentsia, workers and peasants are linked to the fate of the homeland and to the party. The democratization of life does not mean disintegration, nor denial of the law, but the expansion of participation and civic responsibility. In his speech, comrade Ramiz Alia mentioned that freedom and independence were won with blood and sacrifice and must be defended with wisdom and determination. He praised the unity of the people, faith in socialism and the necessity for everyone to work better, maintain calm and not fall prey to provocations. It was said that the party will listen attentively to the people's voice, will improve working methods, but always while preserving the fundamental principles of the socialist order. The democratization of life, it was stressed, is closely linked to the strengthening of patriotism and the defense of national sovereignty.

Interviews of the day

The matters of interest and concern to the country are limited, he said, at a time when enterprises and agricultural cooperatives are facing concrete difficulties. Everything must be done to increase yields, make better use of the material base and strengthen discipline at work. Representatives of the collectives expressed their views regarding supply, transport, work organization and the need for more open communication with the leading bodies. It was stressed that socialist democracy should provide more room for initiatives, criticism and useful proposals. It was pointed out that coping with the situation requires determination, responsibility and a patriotic spirit. Any wavering or illusion about foreign solutions harms Albania's interests and endangers the victories achieved with so much sacrifice.

Prof. dr. Rexhep Jidani

“On the other hand, it is in the country's interest that reforms not be cut off from order and social responsibility. Democracy cannot be understood as weakening the state or as a path for foreign interference. It makes sense only when it strengthens the participation of the masses, socialist morality and national sovereignty.”
Rexhep Jidani

Diana Çuli, writer

She sees the country's future as linked to the development of civic culture, dialogue and a sense of responsibility. In her view, democratization should not turn into moral or political disintegration, but into the strengthening of institutions and confidence in Albania.

Opinion on the occasion of 10 July

On the occasion of the issue of 10 July, it was recalled that the country's freedom and independence were won with the blood of the martyrs and cannot be called into question. The forces of the people must remain vigilant against any attempt at destabilization and against any foreign influence. At the same time, the democratization of life must move forward, with wisdom, patience and trust in the masses. This is the path to overcoming difficulties and to the future of Albania.
