THE HOMELAND IS STRENGTHENED WITH EVERYONE'S CONTRIBUTION

History has taught us to live by our own sweat, to defend freedom with our own blood Conflicts, quarrels, divisions and anarchy have always deeply hurt and shaken Albania’s fate. Even more than ever, a strong unity, a common stance and sincere understanding are needed for the country and the people. — Ramiz Alia? — yes, esteemed friend, and this we have done and will do in the future, with full conviction that we are doing it for the common good of our homeland. We have done it and we do it not out of opportunism or momentary conjuncturalism, but out of a high moral, political and historical responsibility, from a necessity arising from a deep analysis of the processes and developments in today’s world. History has taught us that freedom and independence are not given as a gift; they are won and defended with sacrifice and blood. The Albanian people have proven this throughout their entire national life. Therefore, our path must be the path of unity, work, understanding and responsibility toward the country. The cooperation of all citizens, regardless of beliefs and opinions, is essential in order to advance democratizing processes, strengthen the economy, improve well-being and protect the constitutional order. In this important period for the country, no one should think that the future can be built by denying the past or by undermining national unity. Only with wisdom, moderation and determination can difficulties be faced and new paths to progress opened. The homeland is strengthened with everyone’s contribution.

Interviews of the day

Pundi Padhi: The people have arrived Koka says, alia that can all? one passerby was asked this way. According to him, calm and understanding are the needs of the day. “We must work, not quarrel,” he says. Poç Hysen Çeçi: Steps toward the democratization and reform of life have been taken. Some citizens are asking for more courage, others for more caution. Above all, the people demand order and work. Neritan Caka, anesthesiologist: Establishing order and a climate of trust is linked to the responsibility of every person. The state must hear the voice of the citizens, but citizens must also preserve calm. (To be continued on page 2)

BEYOND MAN'S THOUGHT...

Lumturi Haziri, a second-year student at the Faculty of Engineering, sends these lines to the newspaper “Rilindja”: Let us be clear-minded, calm and honest in assessing what is happening. This is not the time for insults, nor for stirring up hatred. It is the time for civic responsibility, mature thought and wise action. Today’s citizen must know how to speak, but also how to listen. Must know how to oppose, but without destroying. Must seek change, but not turn it into clashes that harm the country. (To be continued on page 3)

For the doubt of the parent to start the light

In one area, somewhere around 80 percent of young people declare that they want to live and work with dignity in their own country. This requires calm and trust. If the climate of debate turns into conflict, their future is lost. Schools, the family and social organizations also have a great responsibility for civic education. It is not enough to speak about freedom; one must also learn the responsibility that accompanies it. (To be continued on page 2)

The democratization process of the country's life is neither an imported thing nor something imposed on us by anyone. We began it ourselves, starting from the conditions and needs of our socialist society, from the new stage of its growth and development. RAMIZ ALIA
