Gathered together, workers and cadres, to celebrate the completion of the cereal harvest, we inform you that from 841 hectares planted with wheat for bread and concentrate, the enterprise obtained an average yield of 68 quintals per hectare, the highest yield achieved in the history of this enterprise. Against the planned 64 quintals per hectare, we fulfilled 100 percent of our state deliveries. In barley, we fulfilled the target by 103 percent; for milk, to date, we have achieved 102 percent of the plan. By further intensifying scientific work, we achieved 73 quintals per hectare on 422 hectares, and over 85 quintals per hectare on 50 hectares. All the brigades cultivating wheat achieved and exceeded their targets. In four sectors, yields exceeded 70 quintals per hectare. Alongside the hard work and great mobilization of our workers, the machine operators and transport workers did commendable work. Inspired by the Political Bureau’s decisions on supplying the peasantry, we have launched an effort to achieve further successes in potatoes, sugar beet and forage crops. How the Political Bureau’s decision to extend and strengthen the cooperative household plot was received The highlanders of Pukë have always loved the land, more than almost anyone else. They swear by earth and sky, wrest land from the rocks, find water for it, build walls to hold it, work it and enrich it. And here, among these crags and on these mountain slopes, where fields are scarcely a palm’s breadth wide, they have grown crops and sustained life for centuries. In the village of Micol, 70-year-old Seit Meti cannot find words to express all the pleasure he feels at the decision of the Party Central Committee’s Political Bureau to increase and strengthen the cooperative household plot; he only says, «Long live this Party, which gives us land!» He has done—and still does—more than 200 workdays at the agricultural cooperative. «That’s because I feel the land loves me more this way,» he says. «And I love it more when I work it. That is why the decision further increases our interest both in the cooperative’s fields and in our household plot.» Informal conversations held this morning confirmed the locations where new land can be opened up and how this work will be organized, as well as how meadows and pastures can be put to better use so that the peasantry can secure more feed for the livestock kept on household plots. Qamile Collaku, a mother of six in Kabash, says: «We have always cared for the wheat, the maize, and everything planted in the soil, and we always will. Fodder for the livestock kept in our household plots, and now the necessary land to grow it, show the Party’s concern for feeding us and our children. That is why we will repay it with tireless work.» Following the Political Bureau’s decision, the Party worker was immediately assigned the task of talking with people and finding solutions to increase agricultural and livestock production. Prej Celanaj, secretary of the Party bureau of the Qafëmal agricultural cooperative, is a teacher. But although he is on summer vacation, as he says, «I feel that a Party worker never has a holiday.» The new decision of the Political Bureau calls on us to engage with people and resolve, at village level and as quickly as possible, how to expand household plots. Immediately, starting today, we have registered the number of cooperative-member families in each household economy, as well as the amount of land they will receive. The Seed Department will make the necessary quantities of forage and seasonal vegetable seeds available to the households, so that members face no difficulties in planting them. At the same time, we will work to ensure that the households themselves also support cooperative life with a material base. How much water do you need? What other help do you need from the cooperative? This is how we will proceed, so that household-plot land is quickly planted with forage crops and seasonal vegetables such as leeks, spinach, cabbage, etc. We have also secured the necessary seeds. In recent days, the pace has been higher everywhere, and so far more than 1,200 hectares have been planted throughout the district.
