On the basis of the achievements and lessons learned so far, let us, with joint forces, resolutely approach the fulfilment of the tasks arising from the Action Program of the LCY. Repayment of debts is above all a duty of communists, of the entire working class and of all working and creative people. It requires unity of action, mobilization and social responsibility. Our popular press, as a tribune for the creative thinking of the masses, must make its irreplaceable contribution to clarifying social processes, to affirming the truth and to the struggle against negative phenomena. In the conditions of economic, political and moral crisis, free speech and public responsibility acquire special importance. Our journalism must be closely connected with the life of the worker, the peasant, the intellectual and the youth, and express their concerns, worries, efforts and aspirations. Only in this way will the press truly be a tribune for the creative thinking of the masses and an important factor of socialist self-management. Respecting the right to information, professional standards and social ethics, the press must fight sensationalism, disinformation and any manipulation of public opinion. Its task is to help create a climate of trust, dialogue and responsibility, so that the citizen feels an active participant in social life. In this regard, continuous commitment is required from editorial offices, correspondents and collaborators, as well as a further raising of the culture of public communication.

At the special meeting of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers on the energy situation, the difficulties in the supply of electric energy and the measures that must be taken to deal with them were examined. It was emphasized that the situation requires greater discipline in consumption, rational use of capacities and stronger engagement of all economic entities. The work of the energy enterprises, municipal bodies and the relevant services was analyzed, and it was requested that operational measures be taken to ensure as regular a supply as possible for the economy and households. Special attention was paid to the need to save energy and to eliminate technical and commercial losses in the network.

PAY ATTENTION This column is dedicated to the need for vigilance, responsibility and daily commitment in fulfilling social duties. There is no place for self-satisfaction at a time when the country is facing numerous economic, social and political difficulties. Every success achieved must be accompanied by new work, greater control and a higher sense of responsibility. The bodies, working collectives and citizens must be active in solving problems and not wait for them to be solved on their own. Only through joint action can obstacles be overcome and new prospects for development opened up.

On the occasion of the 8th anniversary of ... commemorative and cultural events were organized. The participants praised the role of the people in preserving traditions, defending national values and strengthening unity. Speeches were delivered, exhibitions were opened and meetings with citizens were held. The organizers emphasized that care for historical and cultural heritage is part of our identity and an obligation of the present generations. (Continues on page 2)

Yesterday a delegation led by ... departed from our country for Havana to take part in the 8th Congress of OKE on the prevention of crimes and the treatment of offenders. The delegation is composed of representatives of the justice authorities, public order bodies and scientific institutions. The congress will examine issues related to crime prevention, the modernization of criminal legislation and international cooperation in this field. The participation of our delegation is regarded as a contribution to the exchange of experience and to the strengthening of multilateral cooperation. A delegation from our country will take part in the 8th Congress of OKE on the advancement of crimes.
