INNOVATION - A BAROMETER OF PROGRESS

Today, in the overall development of our society, especially in socio-economic development, an indispensable condition is the activation and involvement of scientific and technical creative potential, both in the direction of scientific theoretical research and in the solution of many complicated and complex issues of our economy, in order to find concrete solutions that will lead to the affirmation of production and its modernization. In this regard, innovation has an important role. By the notion of innovation we understand any novelty, any new technical, technological and organizational solution that brings improvements in production, an increase in productivity and the rationalization of work processes. Innovation is an inexhaustible source of progress and of the affirmation of the creativity of our working people. In our work organizations, innovation must find greater support. Conditions must be created for workers, specialists and scientific cadres to be encouraged toward creative work, concrete proposals and useful solutions. Every organization should have a special interest in innovations, in their implementation and in the real evaluation of the effects they bring. Our experience has shown that where persistent work has been done in this direction, noticeable results have been achieved. Raw materials have been saved, yields have increased, the quality of products has improved and costs have been reduced. On the other hand, where insufficient attention has been paid, room has remained for stagnation and routine. Innovation must not be seen as a one-off task. It must become a permanent part of the life of the work organization, part of the responsibility of every working collective. Only in this way can we move faster along the road of development, modernization and overall progress. In conditions where our economy is facing many tasks and difficulties, every useful idea, every creative initiative and every rational proposal must be assessed seriously. Formalism and the underestimation of innovations must be fought. All creative potential must be put at the service of development. Therefore, innovation is truly a barometer of progress. Where there is innovation, there is movement, there is inquiry, there are results. Where it is lacking, the dynamism of development is also lacking.

WITH THE BEAUTIFUL CONCERN OF TOMORROW...

On the occasion of the Day of Innovators Report 4 We talk with fellow workers, with innovators and leaders about the paths of creativity, about the obstacles and about the aims of tomorrow. Much has been achieved, but more persistence, more support and more organization are needed. Innovations require not only ideas, but also a work climate, understanding and responsibility. This day marks a good opportunity to look more closely at the work of those who think, seek and create. They are the ones who, through their efforts, bring new solutions, improve processes, save time and resources and make work more fruitful. In many collectives innovative work has produced noticeable results. However, there are still many tasks to be done so that this movement may take on broader dimensions and become an everyday part of work organization. (To be continued on page 4)
