Passengers Wait and Wait...

(The service brigade — voices of the people...) Today Tirana’s city transport, especially the ring-line and Dajti line services, is in a visibly serious condition. Yesterday the bus with plate 06 045 left citizens without service from 7 in the morning until evening. On this line, buses often run late or do not run at all. This leads to large crowds at stops and numerous complaints from citizens. At a time when the country calls for greater discipline and responsibility, it is unacceptable for important urban transport vehicles to be left without the necessary technical control. Citizens wait for hours, while in many cases they receive no explanation for the delays or the absence of buses. At the stop near Shallvaret, yesterday at 8:30 a.m., dozens of citizens were seen waiting for the ring-line bus. Some of them expressed dissatisfaction with the way the service is being carried out. They said that delays have become routine and that this is causing them serious difficulties in getting to work, school, and in meeting other daily needs. Field checks showed that in some cases vehicles stop service because of breakdowns, but repairs are not carried out quickly enough. There are also cases when the bus departs late because of a lack of drivers or poor organization in the depot. This shows weaknesses in discipline and management. In conditions where the capital is expanding and the flow of passengers has increased, a faster response is required from the relevant enterprises. The stops are crowded, especially during rush hours, and this irritates citizens, who rightly demand a more regular service. Excuses are not enough. Urban transport must operate according to schedule and with full responsibility. The management bodies must take immediate measures to improve the situation, to carry out technical checks of the vehicles, and to respect the timetables. (To be continued on page 2)

Good Study, but Implementation — Implementation?

ERMAT Pasoja Tusha, scientific secretary of the Executive Committee of the city, says that in this district, times are different and take on different dimensions. This applies not only to one particular problem, but also to the organization of the entire life of the city. If the study is carried out carefully, implementation lags behind and this brings consequences. In enterprises and institutions there are positive examples, but quite often decisions remain on paper. More persistence, more control, and the direct responsibility of leaders are needed. (To be continued on page 2)

Construction Development Not general talk, but the technological key of the enterprise of production was taking on a Balkan craft. At the mechanical plant of Lezha, work on improving designs and raising quality has become a daily part of production. Workers and specialists are engaged in new processing methods, technological changes, and adaptations that bring savings in material and time. The positive examples show that when organization is good and experience is combined with initiative, results do not fail to appear. (Photo: N.
