The Address We Will Write Every Day

By Fejzo e Kryeziu[?] As has been published or written earlier, these vocationally oriented secondary schools have successfully carried and preserved these symbolic names for years. And Hajri Kovaçari? It is preparing to bear this name with dignity also in the future, just as it has until now. “Indeed, we have wanted and still want with all our heart for our school, as an institution of knowledge and education, to be worthy of the figure of that wise, intelligent and tireless man,” says the school principal. “For us this has been not only an honor, but also a special moral duty.” When asked what this tradition and this name mean to them today, he adds that students and teachers pay attention to preserving values and creating an ever richer cultural environment. “We are convinced that the address we will write every day to this name is good work, good behavior and high results.” This school has linked its name with dedication, discipline and results. In its surroundings, the traces of careful educational and formative work can be felt. In conversations with teachers and students, one notices the desire to move forward and keep the tradition alive. This is also shown by the many teaching, cultural and social activities that take place there. For many, this is a name written not only on a signboard, but also in the consciousness of everyone who enters that school.

How big our family is: how many sisters and brothers we must have!

A few days ago I had the opportunity to talk with many young men and women from the village, but not only with them. The conversation also led us to the question of family ties and knowledge of relatives. Many of them knew well how large the close and distant circle of the family is, how many cousins, nephews and nieces each household has, how many bonds they maintain with the common family tree, and how often they gather in joy and sorrow. Someone joked that if we count carefully we will find that we have many sisters and brothers. There was also truth in that remark, because the Albanian family, with its branches, remains a large human community. This feeling of closeness and belonging, nourished by customs and shared memory, is one of the values that keep our social life connected. Even when people move away, even when children grow up and create their own families, the threads of kinship are not easily broken. In gatherings, in celebrations, in joint work, in mutual help, these ties reveal themselves. That is why we often feel the family not simply as a small core, but as a broader world, where each person has his or her own place. The mother at work in the agricultural enterprise of Lezha.
