PARLIAMENT DECISIONS - NEW OUTLOOKS FOR OUR ECONOMY
The approval and implementation of the new laws on economic relations with the outside world clearly show that our country is entering a new phase of democratization and economic development. The People's Assembly of the RPS of Albania, in its latest session, adopted a series of laws of special importance for our economy, including the law on joint ventures, the law on foreign investments, and the regulation of several financial and customs matters.
The aim of these decisions is to create more favorable conditions for linking our economy with the world market, for introducing new technologies, for increasing exports, and for boosting production efficiency. This is a carefully considered course, dictated by the times and by the need to keep pace with contemporary development.
In the deputies' discussions, it was emphasized that opening up to the world does not mean any concession in principles, but rather the use of new opportunities for the country's progress. It was noted that our economy has many potentials and that, with better organization, greater responsibility, and stricter enforcement of discipline, even higher results can be achieved.
An important place is also occupied by the improvement of the legal and economic climate for enterprise activity, the encouragement of initiative and responsibility among working collectives, as well as the increased role of experts and specialists. In this framework, Parliament's decisions open new prospects for the development of our economy and for improving the people's well-being.
WITH HIGHER GOALS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
Good indicators
Wherever you look, in recent months the activity of the Party basic organization, which has come to the center of attention of the staff and the entire workforce, shows a noticeable vitality, not only in carrying out political tasks, but also in the management of the economy. Also evident is the improvement of discipline, work organization, and the strengthening of the struggle against waste.
In the cutting and preparation department, as well as in the clothing combines, work on producing and using raw materials more rationally has been carried out with greater responsibility. One of the reasons for the results achieved in this direction is the ongoing fight against waste, better work organization, and especially the linking of work with each person's system of responsibility. As a result, within the first four months of this year, about 101 percent of materials valued at 800 thousand dinars have been saved.
The struggle against waste and for saving raw materials is being carried out in all departments of the enterprise. In addition, measures have been taken for export, for broadening the range of products, and for improving quality. During the four-month period, results above plan reached 101 percent, securing considerable income.

THE RIGHTS WE ENJOY EVERY DAY
NOTES
At the edge of the road I noticed a young mother, strolling with a double baby stroller. Farther on, near the shop, a pensioner was talking with the saleswoman. Elsewhere, a few schoolchildren were holding their schoolbooks in their hands and laughing with one another. All these are ordinary scenes from our life, which we often do not notice precisely because they have become an everyday part of our reality. But behind them stand rights won through effort, rights we enjoy every day: the right to work, to education, to health care, to rest, and to social protection.
Our socialist society has placed these rights at the foundation of human life. They are not promises on paper, but realities embodied in care for mother and child, in schools open to all, in free health services, in the opportunity to work and live with dignity. These are great achievements, which require awareness and responsibility in order to preserve them and carry them forward.
