AFTER THE WHEAT HARVEST, SOWING AGAIN...

Experience is within the district - VLORE - The torrential rains meant to complete the wheat harvest are seen to be raising doubts and hesitation about the success of further work. Difficulties, lack of experience and delays in the spring sowing deadlines, especially the repetition of difficulties in many sectors, have been and remain a concern. Nevertheless, it seems that in this district the conviction is now taking shape that land should not be left unused and that sowing after the wheat harvest is a highly beneficial direction. This is also shown by the work being done in agricultural sectors and cooperatives. At the agricultural enterprise of Novosela, preparations are under way for the second sowing. The same is true in many cooperatives. In the village of [?] work has begun to secure seed and prepare the land. According to agricultural specialists, the time is suitable and the results of recent years support this initiative. In some plots short-term and forage crops have been sown, while in others the sowing of corn, beans and vegetables is being prepared. If the work moves at a good pace, considerable areas will also be put to use after the harvest. Photo: A. [damaged] After Sunday from the wood-processing plant in Janjë [?]. (Photo: N. Xhindi)

At Every Link - Evaluation in Vain

- ELBASAN - As rarely happens, this year’s 20 June found the grain harvest in our district nearing completion. This is not only the work of nature, but also of organized labor. More than 100 thousand quintals of wheat were brought into the warehouses, while a large part of the production was delivered on time. In many cooperatives good discipline was recorded in organizing work, fuller use of equipment and more careful monitoring of technological processes. Nevertheless, not every link has done its duty properly. There are still plots where losses are significant and there are complaints about delays in transport. These shortcomings must not be repeated in the other stages of the season. For now, attention is focused on the full collection of production, on preparing the land and on starting the second sowing on time. In several enterprises special measures have been taken to avoid losses, increase yields and secure the necessary reserves. The success achieved so far requires continuity and responsibility at every link.

What you lose today, you cannot gain back tomorrow

. This is a call that is often repeated in the days of harvesting and collection. Every minute, every machine, every unit of labor must be put at the service of production. Today's small losses turn into big consequences tomorrow. In many agricultural economies brigades have been strengthened, work schedules have been drawn up and responsibilities have been more clearly defined. Nevertheless, cases are not lacking where disregard for discipline causes damage. There are places where production remains in the field longer than it should, where transport is not carried out on time, or where coordination between links is missing. This cannot be justified. The agricultural year requires pace, concentration and control. Where these are lacking, results also fall. The experience of the best cooperatives shows that proper organization, constant follow-up and the mobilization of people bear fruit. This is the path that must be followed without wavering.

More agile organization is needed in transport work

- OBSERVATION - [Text partially unreadable from the photograph of the reversed page.] The first reports show that the transport of production remains one of the most difficult links of the season. The means are limited, the demands are many, and delays directly affect losses. In some economies greater care has been shown in planning routes, loading and unloading. Elsewhere, improvisation still prevails. Closer coordination is needed between the managers of the economies, transport enterprises and the brigades in the field. Only in this way can bottlenecks be avoided and capacities used better. Positive experience must be generalized quickly.

Preparation for the clarification of the economic mechanism

. In the district of Pogradec [...] [text damaged and partly unreadable in the image]. In a number of cooperatives and enterprises measures have been taken to improve the economic mechanisms, to increase responsibility and to tighten control over indicators. According to specialists, the main task is the effective use of resources, the reduction of expenses and the improvement of financial discipline. The problems observed in some sectors are linked to failure to respect norms, poor planning and shortcomings in control. To overcome these difficulties, more organized work and greater assistance from the leading bodies are required.
