- Saranda District exceeded the wheat production plan by 2.5 quintals per hectare - TO COMRADE RAMIZ ALIA FIRST SECRETARY OF THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE OF THE PARTY OF LABOUR OF ALBANIA TIRANA Dear Comrade Ramiz, These days, the Plenum of the District Party Committee discussed the work carried out and the problems arising in understanding and implementing more deeply the decisions of the 10th Plenum of the Central Committee. At the same time, it was informed about the completion of the wheat harvesting, threshing and processing campaign. On this occasion, we report to you that, among all the agricultural economies growing wheat, although two mountain cooperatives have not yet completed threshing, the targets have so far been exceeded, with the district as a whole producing over 12,000 quintals, or 2.5 quintals per hectare more than planned, while deliveries to the state are also being fulfilled in the five-year plan period. In the plain area, covering 2,800 hectares, a yield 15 quintals per hectare above the plan was achieved. The Vurg Agricultural Enterprise, the «Hero of Socialist Labour» Agricultural Cooperative of Konispol, and those of Bistrica and Finiq produced 4 to 6 quintals per hectare more than the planned yield. The organization and tireless work of the mechanizers, collection and transport workers, the ombanjerë of the Korçë, Kolonjë and Përmet districts, as well as better support from the ministry, stand out in this result. [They] exceeded [targets] by 12 million lekë and are currently working toward the second half-year. Targets are being exceeded in milk, vegetables, eggs and meat, as well as exports. The good condition of spring crops is accompanied by second plantings, accelerated provision of feed for livestock, and care of other plants. The results achieved are based on the Party's correct line, the commitment and patriotism of all the people, proper relations between cadres and the masses, frequent contact with the people, and a social and democratic spirit, all of which are taking firmer root in the working practice of every cadre and specialist. We report to you that your instructions, dear Comrade Ramiz, during your visit to Saranda, to overcome the relatively insufficient level of achievement in relation to the opportunities, conditions, and human and material potential of the district, particularly in agriculture, have been put more firmly on the path to implementation. Thus, compared with two years ago, agricultural production has increased by 12 percent, milk production by 18 percent, the number of small livestock by 17 percent and cattle by 42 percent, and income in agricultural cooperatives by 18 percent, with an average distribution across the district of ... With a sense of responsibility and a critical attitude, the Plenum addressed the shortcomings and reserves that remain, and ways to overcome them, since this year too we have failed to double production of olives and fruit, as you instructed. Likewise, our capacity for meat production is greater. At the Plenum, arguments were presented on ways to overcome these gaps and shortcomings more quickly through organization and reorganization, as decided by the 10th Plenum of the Central Committee. In particular, we are devoting attention to the strength of economic methods and instruments in governance, to knowledge and implementation of our socialist and democratic legislation, to implementing the mass line, and to increasing the role of social organizations. Once again, we assure you that the workers of Saranda District, with unwavering faith in the Party's line and in the bright prospects it opens up, will work as always to strengthen the unity of the people with the Party, the line and independence of the Homeland, and socialist achievements. Amid the revolutionary enthusiasm aroused by the decisions of the Party's and Central Committee's recent plenums and the instructions of Comrade Ramiz Alia, the people of Kurvelesh celebrated on Sunday the 48th anniversary of the liberation of the region from the fascist occupiers and traitors to the country. Those present included Secretary of State Ismet Ozalan, Foreign Minister Ali Bozer, Tourism Minister Ilhan Akezyn, the Governor of Ankara, Safet Arkan Bedyhk, and other senior Turkish dignitaries, as well as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the PSRA to the Republic of Turkey to Tirana, Teoman Surenkok. Motives of the Day Youth of all generations are united by their love for the Homeland and the Party, socialist humanism, respect for national values, and so on; these things form the unity of these generations. As for the unity of generations, their solidarity, their attitude toward socialist property, and other matters, these have developed over time and through experience.
