Yesterday afternoon, in the new settlements on the outskirts of Tirana, in the central sector of the agricultural cooperative “Qafë-Molla”, in destruction area no. 218 of the Tirana border, a large electoral meeting was held, at which Comrade Ramiz Alia was presented as a candidate for deputy to the People's Assembly of the PRPSH. Around 3,000 inhabitants of this area took part in the electoral meeting, coming from the new settlements as well as from the villages of Ndroq, Peza, Shëngjergj and others. The meeting was opened by the chairman of the local people's council, Comrade Ilir Hoxha, who began by saying: "We gather today in the name of the voters of destruction area no. 218, to present a candidate for deputy to the People's Assembly of the PRPSH in the elections of 10 February 1991. The inhabitants of this new suburban area of Tirana and of the villages included in our electoral district, with a varied socio-economic composition, come today to this meeting with a burning desire and a single will: to present Comrade Ramiz Alia as a candidate for deputy to the highest body of people's power." He then spoke about the major economic and social developments our country has experienced in the years of people's power, and about the changes that have been made in their area, especially in recent years. In the name of the voters of the area, Comrade Ilir Hoxha proposed to the meeting that Comrade Ramiz Alia be the candidate for deputy to the People's Assembly. The proposal was met with thunderous applause and prolonged cheering. Then Comrade Lindita Kola, a worker at the textile combine, took the floor and said that "Comrade Ramiz Alia has been and remains one of the outstanding leaders of our country, closely linked to the people and their concerns." She pointed out that under the leadership of the Party of Labour of Albania and Comrade Ramiz Alia, efforts have been made to improve the people's life and strengthen socialist democracy. Yesterday afternoon, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the People's Socialist Republic of Albania, Comrade Adil Çarçani, received the Minister of State of the Republic of Turkey, Ishin Çelebi, who is visiting our country. In the talks held on this occasion, issues concerning relations between the two countries, the possibilities of expanding economic, trade and cultural cooperation, as well as other problems of common interest, were discussed. Comrade Adil Çarçani pointed out that the Albanian people nurture friendly feelings toward the Turkish people and that the development of mutually beneficial relations serves the interests of both countries. The Turkish Minister of State, Ishin Çelebi, expressed satisfaction with the visit to Albania and interest in expanding cooperation in various fields. Other senior officials also took part in the meeting.

Yesterday, in the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Socialist Republic of Albania and the Minister of State of the Republic of Turkey, Ishin Çelebi. During the conversation, issues of bilateral relations, economic and cultural cooperation, and other matters of mutual interest were discussed. Both sides expressed their readiness to work for strengthening the ties between the two countries.

In various sectors of agriculture, measures are being taken to strengthen cooperative economies, increase production, and improve the organization of work. Agricultural cooperatives are expanding and joining forces for a better use of land and production means. This is contributing to the improvement of economic indicators and to the strengthening of socialist life in the countryside. (ATSH)
