— Comrade Ramiz Alia takes part — This afternoon, in the coastal city of Durrës, the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Republic of Albania was celebrated. On the dais of this festive meeting organized by the People's Council of the district, the Democratic Front Council and the Executive Committee of the Durrës district, there were party and state leaders, veterans of war and labor, distinguished workers, cadres, soldiers, students and pupils, workers and cooperative members. On behalf of the Central Committee of the PPSH, the Presidium of the People's Assembly, the Council of Ministers and the Democratic Front of Albania, Comrade Ramiz Alia took part in this event. At the beginning, a minute of silence was observed in honor of the martyrs of the homeland. Then the Anthem of the Republic was performed. “We are with you as long as life lasts” With this correspondence comes... 10.1.1991 BY MITRUSH SPONI OF THE PEOPLE OF THE BAJRAM CURRI DISTRICT In the town of Tropoja, in front of the monument to the fighter, a warm rally was held to express the determination of the people of this area to defend the ideals of the party, to guard zealously the line of the PPSH, and to remain loyal to Comrade Enver and Ramiz. In the name of the communists, veterans, youth and women of the district, the speakers expressed support for the activity of Comrade Ramiz Alia and the determination to make any sacrifice in defense of the socialist order. The speakers condemned the hostile activity of hooligan and counterrevolutionary elements, who, as was said, attempted to undermine the achievements of the revolution and socialism. At the end of the rally, the participants shouted: “Party-Enver, we are always ready!” and “Ramiz Alia, we are with you as long as life lasts!”

Comrades, For us, the Albanian people, today the 45th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic is more than ever a historic date, a jubilee of special significance. Our people are rightly celebrating today the 45th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Albania with grandeur and special joy, because they are commemorating this date in new historical circumstances, on the eve of major political changes taking place in today's world and in our country. In the life of our people, the proclamation of the Republic on 11 January 1946 marks a great historical turning point, which crowned the many years of struggle of the Albanian people for freedom, independence, democracy and social progress. This event constitutes a great victory of our people, won with blood, sacrifice and unparalleled heroism. The People's Republic of Albania was born as a result of our heroic national liberation struggle, the victory of the people's revolution and the overthrow of the old exploitative order. It embodied the highest aspirations of the working masses, the working class, the cooperative peasantry and the people's intelligentsia. Our republic, led by the Party of Labour of Albania with Comrade Enver Hoxha at its head, secured the country's full political and economic independence, developed industry, agriculture, education, culture, science and defense, and radically changed the face of Albania. In these 45 years, our people have achieved great victories in all fields of life, building socialism with their own forces and resolutely defending the socialist homeland. Today we bow in deep respect to the memory of the martyrs of the homeland, of the heroes and glorious veterans, and we express our determination to move forward on the road of socialism, socialist democracy and further progress.
