The meetings of PPSH candidates with voters – fruitful face-to-face encounters BY DITA I ALIA Five more days... Do you value? If they are worthy, we can vote, but in order to do this we must have knowledge of their qualities. Today's Albanian voter differs from yesterday's voter. He does not cast his vote without being convinced, without consulting, without comparing. In conditions of political and ideological pluralism, when alongside one political party other parties are also active and when every political subject has its own program, the candidate's meeting with the voters takes on special importance. More than ever, it is an open, direct meeting, where before the electorate each candidate must account for himself, explain his convictions, experience, culture, and ability to represent the people with dignity in the organs of power. The candidate is no longer presented as a name on a list. He must win trust with his personality, with his ability to answer questions, to face debate, to clarify the problems of the time. In this sense, the meetings of candidates with the masses are a true school of democracy in action. They make it possible not only to get to know the candidates, but also to measure the pulse of the people, to hear their concerns, criticisms and suggestions. Our Party has entered these elections convinced that free and honest face-to-face contact with the electorate is essential. It is precisely in this spirit that the meetings of PPSH candidates with voters are taking place throughout the country. In them there stands out a serious, civilized climate, with open discussions and just demands for the solution of the many problems that concern people today. Our candidates are trying to speak clearly, not to promise unsupported things, but to explain the real ways out of difficulties. Another truth also emerges from these meetings: that PPSH remains the most organized, most experienced, and most capable political force to lead the country in the new conditions. Its program for preserving social equality, for deepening democracy, for order, work and progress, finds broad support among the people. The elections of 31 March are a historically important test. In them, citizens will decide with their vote which political force gives them the greatest guarantees for stability, for considered changes, for a safer future. PPSH enters this race with a sense of responsibility, with a program and with candidates who come before the people without fear, ready to listen and to give account. Therefore, meetings with voters are not merely an electoral formality; they are part of the new political culture that is being born. And the more open, the more sincere, and the more convincing this communication is, the stronger the link between the Party and the people will be, and the more certain the victory on 31 March.
