DIGNIFIED VICTORY OF THE PPSH DECLARATION OF THE Central Committee of the PPSH
The 31 March elections in our country were held in a tense political, economic and social situation. Conducted under conditions of political pluralism, these elections were truly free and democratic. They aroused the interest of all political forces and put them to the test, as their electoral programmes were judged with maturity and composure by our people. The Party of Labour of Albania emerged as the winner. It won 56.48 percent of the total vote, one mandate for deputies to the new parliament, and secured the leading political force to govern the country. Greeting with heartfelt joy the victory of the PPSH in these elections, the Central Committee of the Party expresses its warm thanks to the entire Albanian people. In particular, it thanks those hundreds of thousands of citizens who, even in the conditions of a harsh political and psychological campaign, supported our Party with their vote. Great tasks now lie before the Albanians. They have voted for change, for the improvement of the country's economic and social situation, for a better life. The Party of Labour of Albania considers this its highest responsibility. It will do everything possible to implement its programme, to govern in the interests of the people, to guarantee order, calm and social peace. In these elections, alongside the victory of the PPSH, an important pluralistic trend in the country's political life was also observed. This calls for understanding, tolerance and dialogue among political forces, for the good of the people and of Albania. Our Party is convinced that the Albanian people will know how to preserve calm, unity and stability, facing with maturity the difficulties of this transitional period.
