THE COUNTRY NEEDS UNITY, WORK AND CALM
31 MARCH — A GREAT VICTORY FOR THE PEOPLE
The elections of 31 March have also concluded. In these decisive days for the future of Albania, our fellow workers, citizens of all ages and strata, went to the polls and expressed through their vote their will for today's and tomorrow's Albania. Our people gave their verdict. Their vote was a vote for stability, for order, for the country's forward march.
31 March marks a great victory for the people. The victory of the Party of Labour of Albania and of the other progressive forces, which defended the ideals of freedom, independence, order, and social progress, is a victory for all honest people of this country. The people were not deceived by demagoguery, by calls for chaos and overthrow, by empty promises and by open or hidden pressure.
They spoke clearly through their vote and answered those who wanted to divide, to incite hatred and hostility, to throw the country into disorder. The people chose civic peace, work, order and law. They voted for an Albania that is built with sacrifice, with wisdom, and with confidence in its own strength.
This victory places us under great responsibility. It calls for more work, more dedication, more honesty and discipline in every link of social life. The country needs unity, work and calm. It needs everyone to contribute honestly, without revenge, without exclusions, without a spirit of reprisal. Let us open the way to dialogue, understanding and cooperation, in the interest of Albania's major interests.
Today more than ever we must preserve stability. We must avoid any action that undermines constitutional order and public calm. No one has the right to hold the country's future hostage by inciting conflict and division. Now is the time for work, responsibility and political clarity.
Progressive forces and all honest citizens have the duty to defend the achievements made, strengthen national unity, and support the democratic and reform processes that serve the people. Let us move forward with confidence, determination and calm. This is what the times demand, this is what Albania's interests demand.
The votes, the priority of democratic, true aspirations, of the human spirit
On the magical stage, in the great ensemble of awakening, consciousness and social emancipation, yesterday the progressive forces triumphed, along with the ideals of democracy and socialism. In our Albania, the people's right to determine its own path prevailed, along with faith in the future and the conviction that changes must be made wisely, without destroying the values that have been created.
At the end of these elections, one thing is clear: our people know how to distinguish between demagoguery and truth, between adventure and responsibility, between hatred and coexistence. They voted for what gives the country real hope, for what protects their present and future interests.
This vote is the priority of democratic, true aspirations, of the human spirit. It shows that people seek freedom with responsibility, pluralism with civility, change with order. No one can ignore this message. No one can distort it for narrow political interests.
Now great work is needed to fulfil people's expectations. There must be humility before the people's vote and determination to carry reforms forward. This is the path of reason, peace and hope.

71 HEADS OF LABOUR
Competition
During the last days, our organs have exposed and struck several hostile and speculative activities, which aimed to create insecurity, shortages and panic in the market. The persons involved, exploiting temporary difficulties, have tried to damage the supply of the people and stir up dissatisfaction.
These actions have been firmly condemned by healthy public opinion. The competent bodies are rigorously following the enforcement of the law and the taking of necessary measures against every offender.

RAMIZ ALIA
We do not feed the people illusions as if the world will keep us alive. Our country is the work and the free labor of our own country and, by synchronizing activity with the needs of the people, we must rely on our own forces.
