In these days, activities are being organized to make timely use of the arable land, in order to secure the food base for livestock. Along with this, measures are being taken for agrotechnical services and the preparation of all equipment for the spring sowing season. In many agricultural cooperatives and enterprises, special attention is being given to fertilization, irrigation arrangements and the repair of tools.
Is competence or responsibility lacking?
VLORË
The assessments made so far, especially in the grain sector, by specialists and cadres from the agricultural apparatus, have from the outset been rather weak and cautious. As has been done in recent days toward the managers of agricultural economies, in order to encourage them to show more care and correctness, this arises not only from the demands for increased production, but also from the need for stronger discipline in the organization of work.

Is this the year’s house tomato? [?]
REPLY
Everything I wrote in the telegram in the article about the way of recording and the work of other comrades, to see in organizational talks also the matters of production, I think that the explanations given later in the material published by the journalist of “Rilindja” on 31 March 1991 are unfounded. In our cooperative there is an established practice approved by specialists, according to which work results are measured by concrete indicators and not by guesses.
It is the same with tomatoes. Contracts are made with brigades and with families, the area is determined, inputs and delivery are calculated. The cases when bad weather or lack of water has caused deviations from the plan cannot be called shortcomings of our organization. On the contrary, we have sought to find more practical ways to avoid losses.
Today, someone who draws up tables and reaches conclusions from the office cannot know everything that happens in the field. I think it is appropriate that when such concerns are raised, the opinions of specialists and people at the grassroots level should be taken into account.
