WITH A DEMOCRATIC SPIRIT AND A MALICE-FREE PRIDE
We act in the service of work
— BUSNES
Wherever you are, when you see this turning of the days, even in the life of a person of age, it is as if memory returns to other times. I too, in this atmosphere, in this climate of freedoms and rights won with effort and blood, think that it is necessary to speak openly and responsibly about what has been and what must be done. Within this framework, the PPSH program presents a clear orientation for the path our country should follow.
At the center of attention is work, the working person, his dignity and the future of the family. Democracy makes no sense if it does not bring bread, peace and development. Therefore, the PPSH program supports reforms, legality, property, free initiative and social protection for the strata that risk being left behind. One cannot move forward with empty slogans or with ill-considered calls. Clear thinking and the uniting of energies are needed.
Albania needs peace, unity, dialogue and understanding. Instead of hatred and division, cooperation is needed. No one should be excluded from the effort to bring the country out of difficulties. For this reason, this program also speaks of an open society, respect for pluralism, democratic institutions and the rule of law.
Yesterday in the People’s Assembly
Consultations among parliamentary groups
The chairman of the parliamentary group of the Party of Labour, Servet Pëllumbi, held a meeting yesterday morning with the chairman of the parliamentary group of the Republican Party, Sabri Godo. After this meeting he said that he left satisfied, since the discussion was held in a sincere and constructive spirit and common ground was found on the most troubling problems facing the country today, among which the preparation of the new multiparty elections undoubtedly occupies a central place. However, the consultations among the parliamentary groups were not concluded. The chairman of the PPSH parliamentary group will have other meetings for consultations with chairmen and representatives of other parties, with the aim not only of fully clarifying the position of each political force on the main problems troubling the country, but also of laying the foundations for broader political understanding, important for the present and the near future of Albania.
Yesterday morning, on the initiative of the chairman of the People’s Assembly, the first consultation was held between the parliamentary groups on the conditions that must be met for a democratic and modern legislative and electoral process. The meeting was attended by representatives of PPSH, PD, PSDSH, PRSH, OMONIA, the Agrarian Party and UNIKOMB. Discussion focused on the date of the upcoming elections, the time needed to prepare the necessary legislation, the creation of the infrastructure for the elections, and the need to respect the appropriate time for the electoral campaign. At the meeting, according to some of the participants, the view was expressed that the elections could be held on 16 June, a date proposed by opposition deputies. But since representatives of PL and the other two political groups with extremist orientation were absent from the meeting, no conclusion was reached. It was decided to wait for further consultations. Later, the chairman of the parliamentary group of the Republican Party held a meeting yesterday morning with the chairman of the parliamentary group of the Party of Labour, Servet Pëllumbi.
