THANAS SHAHU As soon as I saw on the front page of the newspaper “Rilindja Demokratike” dated 25.5.1991 an article titled “Who defends the cooperative member,” I took the initiative to write these lines. The article presents the situation in the countryside in a distorted way and aims to incite division. It is not right to speak in the name of the peasants while ignoring their efforts and sacrifices. Today the village needs peace, work, and well-thought-out solutions, not hasty calls. The land cannot be divided in an uncontrolled manner, because production would be harmed and the shared experience of years would be lost. Concrete help is needed: work tools, chemical fertilizers, quality seed, and a secure market for production. (Continued on page 2)

In the Council of Ministers At yesterday’s meeting of the Council of Ministers, the scope of activity of the University of Shkodrës “Luigj Gurakuqi” and the University of Tirana was established. The decision concerns the distribution of departments and study profiles, with the aim of increasing efficiency in the training of personnel and avoiding overlaps. It was emphasized that this measure serves to strengthen higher education in the north of the country and creates greater opportunities for students.
