YESTERDAY IN THE PEOPLE’S ASSEMBLY

At the morning session of the People’s Assembly, under the chairmanship of the deputy speaker of the People’s Assembly, Xhevdet Kastrati, the deputies continued their discussions on the draft constitution. The Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Ylli Bufi, answered the questions put by deputies at yesterday’s morning session concerning the government program and clarified many issues raised in the deputies’ discussions. He said that the government followed yesterday’s debates with attention and found in them many valuable ideas. Meanwhile, the prime minister promised that there would be corrections and additions to the Government Program. In yesterday’s morning session the deputies discussed the draft constitution and the government program. Among others, the following deputies spoke: Ismail Lleshi, Simon Stefani, Maks Velo, Neshat Tozaj, Gaqo Tashko, Kreshnik Spahiu[?], Hysni Milloshi[?], Azem Hajdari, Besnik Mustafaj, Abdi Baleta, Sabri Godo and others. Last Wednesday our people became acquainted with the Program of the Stabilization Government, said deputy Ismail Lleshi. He said that this program is an important political, social and economic document that sets short-term and long-term objectives for bringing the country out of crisis. Deputy Simon Stefani pointed out that all political forces must make their contribution to overcoming the current difficulties. Maks Velo spoke about the need for deep and rapid reforms. Azem Hajdari stressed that political pluralism must be accompanied by respect for the law and for human rights. Besnik Mustafaj focused on the need to guarantee fundamental freedoms. Abdi Baleta spoke about national issues and the need for a measured foreign policy. Sabri Godo dealt with issues related to the functioning of institutions. The session continued with questions and answers and with further discussions by the deputies.

Understanding and no new dramas

Various political and social representatives expressed yesterday the need for dialogue and national understanding under the difficult conditions the country is going through. It was emphasized that the country needs calm, work and responsibility, and not new dramas. The discussions said that solving the problems requires cooperation among all political forces and social strata. It was stressed that the language of tension and confrontation should be avoided and that the political climate must be more measured. According to those who spoke, the interests of the country must be placed above narrow party interests. The economic difficulties, shortages in the market, supply problems and citizens’ insecurity were mentioned, but it was said that solutions can be found through reforms and collective commitment. The article stresses that political and civic responsibility is more necessary today than ever.

A group of deputies meets with strikers in Vlorë

A group of deputies held a meeting with strikers in Vlorë, where their demands and the situation that had arisen were discussed.
