WHAT DID YOU DO, SO TIRANA HAS NO BREAD?
— For you, Mr. Toma Medin? no question, as chairman of the district Executive Committee and as a member of the Democratic Party.
As was also announced at the meeting held a few days ago at the “Misto Mame” factory in Tirana, where, in order to clarify the critical state of bread supply, it was clearly stated that our city, for the most part, has been supplied with wheat flour from the districts and from state reserves. This poor situation comes as a consequence of a series of factors and, in order to further raise public awareness about this problem, a meeting was organized and held with the chairman of the Tirana Executive Committee, Mr. Toma Medin.
At the beginning of the conversation with him, he states that despite efforts to ease this acute problem somewhat, the objective has not yet been sufficiently achieved. The city has a great need for bread and shortages are noticeable. He explains that the difficulties have come as a result of reduced grain arrivals, transport and distribution problems, but also some irregularities in the trade network.
He goes on to stress that measures have been taken to better secure the baking units, control distribution and prevent abuses. Nevertheless, citizens continue to feel the shortages and the long lines in front of bakeries have become a common phenomenon. According to him, improving the situation requires greater commitment from all levels and cooperation with central structures.
He admits that information for citizens has been insufficient and that more transparency is needed regarding reserves, quantities and supply schedules. In the end, he says that with the new measures a gradual improvement in the situation is expected, but he does not give an exact deadline.
