Constructive Opposition in the Interest of Development

— POST-ELECTORAL OPINIONS — Opposition does not mean a tolerated concession from political competition March 22 marked the electoral contours and clearly determined the winners and the losers. The voter, though frightened and still unclear in his political orientation, expressed his preference with his vote. The Socialist Party won because it was the first to organize itself at the grassroots and in the center, and it represented political and social wisdom under conditions in which the Democratic Party had shown the electorate an alternative vacuum. It was unable to find either a governing alternative in its entirety or the means and instruments of political struggle to convince voters that it was the force that could lead Albania out of the difficult situation in which it finds itself. In addition, the Democratic Party’s defeat must have been caused by its own backward style, immature work, and the verbal and political revanche of many of its leaders. People could not vote for a political force that hides or justifies reprehensible actions, that feeds hatred and quarrels. Despite the defeat, however, the Democratic Party remains a significant political force, having secured over 30 percent of the vote in these elections. This is an asset for pluralism and should make the opposition wiser and more realistic. The opposition should not consider itself a mere "tolerated concession" by democracy, but a necessary factor in political life. If it knows how to rebuild itself, respect the democratic rules of the political game, and articulate its alternatives without violence or blackmail, then it will be able to play a positive role in the country’s development. Albania needs constructive opposition, not destructive opposition. Our people are tired of conflicts, artificial crises, calls for overthrow and confrontation. The country needs calm, production, work, economic recovery, and legal security. The Socialist Party won these elections not only as an opponent of the previous government, but also because it put forward a more credible alternative for stability and change. This imposes much greater responsibilities on it. Victory is not an endless celebration, but a heavy burden of proving that promises can be turned into deeds. People expect a lowering of tensions, the rule of law, social justice, and the beginning of recovery. Tomorrow’s opposition, whoever it may be, must understand that power is not won by noise, but by trust; not by insults, but by argument; not by destabilization, but by a program. Only in this way does political competition become useful for the nation. In this sense, constructive opposition is part of development and not an obstacle to it.

THE SOCIALIST PARTY WAS NOT BORN FOR AN ELECTORAL CAMPAIGN

— On the eve of hard-won turning points, years also flow from PSSH... By the academician Fatos Nano [?] Let us transform! There is no doubt that the elections of 22 March are a historic victory, perhaps the most important since the founding of the Socialist Party last June. The victory is the crowning achievement of our work and of our reformist program. It is not the result of chance. Behind it stand grassroots organization, the seriousness of the candidates, the wisdom of the electorate, and the country’s need for stability. But this victory must not blind us. The Socialist Party was not born for an electoral campaign, nor for a temporary success. It was born to be a modern force of the Albanian left, to defend those in need, to advance democratic reforms and a market economy with a human face. We must be prepared for the great responsibilities that governing brings. The people do not expect celebration from us, but work; not rhetoric, but results; not revenge, but justice. If we want to be worthy in the eyes of the electorate, we must know how to govern with wisdom, professionalism, and dialogue. We need strong institutions, the rule of law, and an honest administration. Equally important is preserving party unity, the spirit of debate, and a continuous connection with the grassroots. From this victory we must not draw false illusions. Ahead of us lie major economic and social difficulties. Albania is ruined and people want tangible change. This requires sacrifice, patience, and democratic culture. Our strength will be measured not by words, but by the ability to build, reconcile, and bring hope.

REAL SOCIAL WELFARE OR...

The right-wing parties are preserving yesterday’s private property once again for privileged strata, marginalizing small property and stamping it with the mark of new inequality. Instead of building a modern social system, they are trying to restore old advantages. This brings dissatisfaction, social division, and insecurity. Albanian society needs real social policies, employment, education, healthcare, and protection for the weak, not empty slogans. Reforms must place the human being, the family, and the dignity of work at the center.

The ranks of the Socialist Party are growing with new names

In villages and cities, after the election victory, many citizens are expressing the desire to draw closer to the Socialist Party. New memberships are being registered in various organizations, and this is seen as an indicator of trust in its program and positions. The expansion process requires selection, political education, and the preservation of organizational standards.

A PARTY WITH A CLEAR FUTURE

A short piece with a propagandistic tone about the future of the Socialist Party and its prospects in the country’s political life. The small print in the image is not fully readable.

WITH THE ELECTIONS OF 22 MARCH, ALBANIA JOINED THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONS

In his public speech, a socialist representative emphasized that with the elections of 22 March Albania took a decisive step toward pluralist democracy and joined the democratic nations. The vote was presented as an expression of the people’s will and as a rejection of political adventures. The need for responsible governance, institutional stability, and national cooperation in the interest of recovery was emphasized.

The socialist alternative rests on the stability of people as a social stratum and as a guarantee of a just and humane government, on protection as an expression of the interests of the underprivileged in society. It gives shape to the political, social, and economic program of reform and to a socialist party that is organized and has a future for everyone.
