EXPLANATION OF THE VOTE OF THE SOCIALIST PARLIAMENTARY GROUP ON THE GOVERNMENT PROGRAM
1. At the end of last night’s session of the People’s Assembly, after discussions and debates, the government program of the right-wing coalition was put to a vote. On behalf of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, deputy Abdi Baleta declared that the PS would not approve this program. In the published text there are also formulations stating that the program offers no solution to the most acute social and economic problems, that it does not guarantee political stability, and that it is based on general concepts.
2. Our political position, articulated during the debate, is linked to the mismatch between electoral promises and the concrete content of the program. In the readable paragraphs, concerns are mentioned about unemployment, the decline in production, the standard of living, and the lack of clear measures to cope with the crisis. The text is partly unclear at the edges, but the main lines of reasoning remain visible.
3. At the end of the explanation of the vote, according to the readable parts, it is emphasized that the socialist opposition will maintain a constructive stance in the Assembly, but without giving its vote to a program that does not answer the interests of the majority of the people. Some lines are very faint and partial[?].
