AFTER A MEETING BETWEEN PSSH CHAIRMAN FATOS NANO AND PRIME MINISTER MEKSI
Consultations among political forces, especially on the eve of important and long-awaited political and social developments in our country, have served and will undoubtedly continue to serve the interests of the country and the people. PSSH and its allies, just like the Democratic Party and its allies, have repeatedly expressed their readiness to cooperate in the country’s interest. Thus, yesterday’s meeting between the chairman of PSSH, Mr. Fatos Nano, and the prime minister, Mr. Aleksandër Meksi, is part of these consultations.
The representative of the press office attached to the chairman of PSSH, Mr. Kastriot Islami, stated yesterday that during the meeting there was broad discussion of the political and economic situation in the country, as well as ways to solve the problems troubling public opinion. In particular, the necessity of respecting political pluralism, democratic institutions, and the rule of law was discussed.
The meeting also addressed issues related to the normal functioning of parliamentary life, relations among political forces, and the need to create an atmosphere of understanding in the interest of reforms. It was emphasized that the country needs political stability, understanding, and responsible cooperation.
On behalf of PSSH, it was reiterated that the opposition will contribute to solving the country's major problems, while at the same time preserving its own identity and political role. The view was expressed that political dialogue must continue and be institutionalized for the benefit of democratic processes.
In conclusion, according to the press statement, the meeting was assessed as useful and necessary in the country’s present circumstances.
