- FROM THE FIRST CONFERENCE OF THE SP IN THE DIBËR DISTRICT - The first conference of the SP took place at a very difficult time for the party and the country. In the many discussions, a deep and realistic analysis was made of the party’s situation, its role and the responsibilities it has in the new political and social circumstances. It was stressed that the defeat in the 22 March elections was not simply the result of external factors, but also the consequence of internal weaknesses, lack of organization, hesitation and the failure to fully activate the party’s human potential. The discussions highlighted the need to increase contact with the grassroots, strengthen party organizations and restore the confidence of the membership. It was requested that the new leaders be more open, more responsible and closer to the people. The delegates noted that the strength of the SP lies in its links with the people and in its ability to defend the interests of broad layers of society. The difficult economic and social situation in the district was also discussed, along with unemployment, poverty and the lack of prospects for young people. It was emphasized that the party must be at the forefront of efforts to solve problems, presenting clear alternatives and cooperating with any progressive force. At the end, the conference elected the new leadership bodies and approved the tasks for the coming period, with the aim of increasing the role of the SP and involving members and sympathizers more broadly in the district’s political and social life.

In Progocinë This concerns 35 young men and women who have expressed their desire to join the SP. In the meeting held with them, the role of young people in the new political conditions and the tasks facing the party organization in bringing the younger generation closer were discussed. It was pointed out that young people represent an important potential for revitalizing the party’s life and strengthening its ties with the community. The participants expressed their willingness to contribute to organizational and social activities, as well as to spread the ideas of the SP program in the environment where they live and work.

These conferences are taking place in an atmosphere of debate and concern, but also with the determination to find the best ways to overcome difficulties. The delegates’ discussions have focused on the need to reorganize the party, strengthen its structures and increase its role in public life. Many of the speakers stressed that the SP must be more active in defending the interests of ordinary people, especially in conditions of economic crisis and major social change. Concrete problems have also been raised concerning the functioning of the basic organizations, the relations between the membership and the leaders, as well as the need for more open and more sincere communication. In this context, the conferences are being seen as an opportunity to revitalize the party’s life and to define more realistic alternatives for the future.
