THE FIRST CONGRESS OF THE PSSH HAS SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED ITS WORK
CLOSING SPEECH BY COMRADE FATOS NANO
Comrades, delegates,
The main responsibility of the organizational tribune of the Congress of a socialist party, which seeks to be and remain a modern party of the masses, is to fulfill its procedural obligations properly and, above all, its political ones. These will prevent this congress from turning into an endless spectacle of debates and disagreements that are out of place and produce no real result. They will make this congress serve as a great political and civic school for all of us, as delegates and participants.
We have not gathered here to make fine speeches, but to decide the new direction of our party. From what was discussed and proposed during these days, it is clear that the Socialist Party of Albania aims to be a force capable of facing the challenges of the transition, defending the interests of labor, social justice and democracy.
Many of the discussions emphasized the need for a profound reform of the party, for its ideological, organizational and moral renewal. This requires an open party, pluralist in thought, disciplined in action, closely connected to the people and to their concerns.
We must clearly break with any authoritarian legacy, with any bureaucratic practice and with any mindset that closes the party in upon itself. Only in this way can we win back lost trust and deserve our role in the political life of the country.
The socialism we defend has nothing in common with dogma, with imposition or with the denial of human freedoms. It is democratic socialism, based on pluralism, on a market economy with social orientation, on the rule of law and on the dignity of the individual.
In this sense, this congress is not the end of a stage, but the beginning of a difficult road. Its success will be measured not by the applause in the hall, but by our ability to turn decisions into work, resolutions into action, words into responsibility.
Let us leave this congress more united, more realistic and more determined to serve Albania, democracy and ordinary people. This is our great duty, this is our political and moral reason.

GREETING FROM PASOK
Dear friends,
On behalf of our movement, we greet you for the organization of the congress and for the efforts you are making to build a modern socialist party. The Balkans need stability, good neighborly relations and political forces that support peace, cooperation and European integration.
We are convinced that relations between our forces can be further developed in a spirit of mutual respect and in the interests shared by our peoples.

Part of the Meksi government should be supported
Now I am truly getting into the month of June. An economic view. That government, which was formed by the coalition of the Democratic Party and other forces, should be assessed as to whether it will be able to cope with the severe economic and social crisis.
According to our analysis, the government led by Aleksandër Meksi should be supported in those measures that lead to stabilization, increased production and reduced hardship for the population. Support does not mean silence in the face of mistakes, but constructive opposition and a constant demand for accountability.
Faced with the national crisis, political forces must show maturity and avoid adventurism.
