They saw several alternatives for the economic development of Berat, presented by the chairman of the pluralist committee for property, Mr. Bajram Karafili, but the main issue was the accusations and the failure to take into account the local leaders in the Kuçovë district.
Leaders of the Socialist Party at the center and at the base, together with the party chairman Fatos Nano, took part in the meeting of the Steering Council of the Socialist Party of the Kuçovë district. At the meeting the most pressing problems of the day and the political stance toward local government were discussed.
Representatives of the district raised concerns about the economic situation, privatization, local administration, and the relations of the local authorities with citizens. It was said that in many cases transparency is lacking and that there is public dissatisfaction with the way everyday problems are being solved.
Fatos Nano stressed that the attitude toward local government cannot be separated from the sharp problems of the day and from the need for a responsible opposition that defends the interests of the people. He called for strengthening the party structures, expanding dialogue with citizens, and greater commitment to solving concrete problems.
The discussions mentioned unemployment, falling production, supply difficulties, the situation of enterprises, and the lack of investment. A clearer political and organizational stance was requested in the face of the situation that has been created.
