THE PRESIDENT IN SEARCH OF THE PRESIDENT

In a democratic and civilized Europe, the president, the high representative of national unity, is elected by popular referendum. Such an institutional arrangement has to do not with the person, but with legitimacy. In Albania, however much was said about a consensus president, the problem still remained tied to political compromises. Ali ... [?] If the president is to be capable of standing above the parties, then he must have a legitimate source from the sovereign. Otherwise, he risks being merely the product of momentary deals. In the country’s tense political climate, this weakens his arbitral function. In the debate of recent weeks, instead of a clear constitutional analysis, political rhetoric has been preferred. This has shifted attention away from the need for stable rules toward proper names. Albania does not need a president of the parties, but a president of the state. If politics continues to seek the president through daily calculations, then we will continue to have a crisis of representation. The president should not be sought as a savior figure, but as an institution built on public trust.

THE PROMISES OF THE PD AND REALITY

WITHOUT THE BREAD OF LOYAL POWER, ITS DISPLACEMENT CANNOT BE REALIZED - The sanctions that must be ended by the government - Will the workers' party[?] act, and the municipality and commune[?] - Will the unfortunate man get his own bread[?] First, all our opinion welcomes any government promise to ease economic difficulties. But promising is one thing, delivering is another. In everyday reality, the poor are feeling unemployment, the lack of bread, and high prices more and more heavily. If the government had a clear social program, it should begin with work, production, and the protection of the family. Instead, fine words are accompanied by vague measures and by an administration incapable of implementing them. Promises of economic aid are not enough without a policy that creates jobs and preserves domestic production. Otherwise, poverty will deepen and citizens' disappointment will grow.

The DP’s Promises

Beneficiaries of what[?] From Kosovo to Vlorë, the promises are big, but their implementation remains unclear. Citizens are waiting for work, bread, and security, while they receive statements and excuses. In conditions of crisis, every policy is judged by what it delivers in everyday life. If words are not turned into deeds, then the promise loses its value.
