OUR RESERVE ADMIRATIONS
Berisha, Ashonii and Meksi are not in Albania!... - condition of release adds?...
Berisha, Ashonii and Meksi are not in Albania!...
- condition of release adds?...
"That calm and maturity should the Albanians have?"[?]
According to our sources, such a trip was undertaken in those days by the President of the Republic, Sali Berisha, one day after his statements in parliament. Those who thought that it was done in order to take part in the Davos meeting were forced to think about another mystery.
The main question? Was it done in the interest of the country? Why, at a time when Albanians needed guidance and security, did the president, the prime minister and several ministers leave Albania at the same time?
The first to depart was the president. Later, Prime Minister Aleksandër Meksi left as well. At the same time it was said that several cabinet ministers were also outside the country. The news spread quickly and caused many comments.
If this move was accidental, why was it accompanied by so much secrecy? If it was part of a plan, why was it not made public? Public opinion has the right to know who is leading the country in difficult moments.
There are many who believe that behind this lies a general insecurity among the top leaders. Others link it to internal political and economic developments. Still others to unexpected contacts abroad.
The fact remains a fact: Albania, for several hours and perhaps longer, was left without its main leaders on its own territory. That is enough for questions to be raised.
Could it be that our political and state reserves are in crisis? Could it be that there is a lack of courage to face reality? Or are we dealing with a leadership that sees the country only as a passing station?
Albanian citizens deserve answers. And, more than that, they deserve accountability.

Life on assistance
- an indescribable contradictory balance -
The lack of order and of standards has become an everyday phenomenon. Instead of long-term policies, society is faced with improvisation and emergency measures.
For many families, assistance has become not a temporary help, but a way of life. This has brought not only economic dependence, but also a blow to human dignity.
The figures speak of rising unemployment, declining production, and a market that functions with difficulty. In towns and villages, people are waiting for a solution that is not coming.
In this situation, the state often behaves like an administrator of scarcity. It gives crumbs and asks for patience. But patience has its limits. Especially when promises are repeated and reality remains the same.
The economy cannot be kept afloat only with aid. It needs work, production, and fairness in distribution. Otherwise, assistance turns into a mechanism of social numbing.

What has been stolen and who stole Durrës municipality
By order from someone in the government, measures have been taken to shut mouths and hide responsibilities.
In this city, many public properties have disappeared or have been suspiciously transferred into private hands. Materials, funds, documents and work equipment have disappeared.
Well-known names from the local administration are mentioned as being involved. But the investigation is moving slowly and without transparency.
Citizens want to know what happened to the municipality's assets and who will be held accountable. Durrës cannot remain hostage to deals and silence.

The process continues
Reorganization of the Party -
Comrades from the Elbasan district[?] have held meetings to strengthen the structures and to increase the role of the organization in the political life of the country.
The discussions focused on the need for closer communication with the grassroots, on increasing the responsibility of members, and on defining concrete tasks for the coming period.
It was emphasized that the Party must be closer to the people, defend the interests of broad social strata, and offer clear alternatives for overcoming the crisis.

JOURNALISTS' ASSOCIATION - HOPE OR DISAPPOINTMENT?
...together with some colleagues, I found the opportunity to take part in a meeting where the role of the press, professional ethics, and the future of journalists' organization were discussed.
Different tones were noticeable in the discussions. Some spoke with optimism about the creation of a structure that would protect journalists' rights and help their professional development. Others expressed distrust, pointing out that such organizations risk remaining purely formal.
This is precisely where the question arises: will the Journalists' Association be a free professional forum, or a new instrument of influence? The answer will depend on the way it is built, on transparency, and on respect for different opinions.
A name is not enough. Nor is a statute. What is needed is real will to defend free speech and to create common ethical standards.

Change of house
In the city of Tirana, there is a pensioner couple who lived in a prefabricated building. On one of the last days, these pensioners were removed from their previous home and forced to take shelter in another place, under unsuitable conditions.
This is a serious case that shows how the lack of order and arbitrariness can strike the most vulnerable citizens.
Who authorized this action? Why were the procedures not respected? Was there an official decision? Such questions require answers.
Otherwise, cases like this become a sign of an administration that acts without sensitivity and without law.

Notice
- On the evening of 1 February 1993, Albanian television reported that the Socialist Party deputy and PDS candidate for deputy, Mr. Shaban Xhaferri, had been arrested by the Tirana police. The next day the news also appeared in the newspaper "Republika". At around 1:30 p.m. on 2.2.93, Shaban Xhaferri, accompanied by his brother, went to the Tirana Police Directorate to inquire about this news.
There it was clarified that no Mr. Shaban Xhaferri had been arrested by the Tirana police. In the premises of the police commissariat, a person named Shaban Xhaferri, originally from Tropoja and born on 28.09.1948, had been accompanied. In the commissariat he stayed for about 30 minutes and then left immediately. The next day, on 3.2.93, the newspaper "Rilindja Demokratike" ran a large headline: "The PS deputy Mr. Shaban Xhaferri, arrested by the Tirana police".
Regarding the above, we were informed by the Socialist Party deputy and PS candidate for deputy, Mr. Shaban Xhaferri, that these are false news. This is connected with the fact that Mr. Shaban Xhaferri had made a public denunciation regarding the Tirana vote commission, where he had denounced violations and manipulations.
He has requested that this false news be denied and that measures be taken against the authors of the defamation.
