STOP THE REPRESSIVE MEASURES, STOP THE POLITICAL PURGES! WE WANT JOBS, WE WANT MESSAGES OF SECURITY FOR THE FUTURE!
Peaceful protest in Durrës
- From the rally organized last night in the city of Durrës -
Taking as a starting point the country’s political and economic situation, on Saturday afternoon in the square in front of the “A. Moisiu” theater, on the initiative of the Municipal Council of the Socialist Party, a peaceful protest rally was organized. The rally was opened and chaired by the secretary of the Municipal Council of the PS, comrade Skënder Dardha. At first, on behalf of the organizers, he stressed that all the city’s residents were taking part in this rally, united regardless of party affiliation or political beliefs, and that they were concerned with the country’s future.
On behalf of the Socialist Party councillors, Mr. Ilir Kërtusha stressed that this event is being held to make it clear to domestic and foreign public opinion that Durrës is protesting and does not accept the injustices being committed at the expense of the people. The country’s economic situation has reached a critical state. Only 300 tons of wheat a month, he said, Durrës, which is located 30 km from the capital, while in the youth protest the government gave the same thing to the police. According to him, the situation created in the country and especially in Durrës is the result of the failure to fulfill election promises and a series of government mistakes. Another Socialist councillor said that “our city is being emptied of young people and in its place a climate of insecurity is being created.”
Speaking on behalf of the women’s organization, a female speaker stressed that the women of Durrës cannot remain indifferent in the face of today’s situation, when their families are facing unemployment, poverty and insecurity. It was requested that the political purges be immediately halted and that no one play with the fate of thousands of families. The speeches emphasized that political forces must refrain from the language of hatred and give messages of security for the future.
At the end of the rally, a resolution was adopted condemning repressive measures, dismissals from work for political reasons, the lack of prospects for young people, and rising unemployment. The participants called for political dialogue, respect for the law, and the creation of normal conditions for living.

THE SOCIALIST PARTY IS THE MOST CIVILIZED, THE MOST CULTURED PARTY
THE SOCIALIST PARTY IS THE MOST CIVILIZED,
THE MOST CULTURED
DIMITËR AGOLLI
Member of the Presidium of the SPSh
From the very beginning of the most recent organizational years of the Socialist Party, an entire propaganda apparatus has been set in motion to place it in a difficult position and create the impression that the Socialist Party cannot be reformed, that it is inseparably tied to the past, to its vices and mistakes, and therefore must be excluded from the country’s political life. These pessimistic and deliberate voices have not been and cannot be convincing to anyone who truly knows the social composition, culture, and human experience of this party.
The Socialist Party emerged from the elections with a broad popular base, with intellectuals, workers, peasants, young men and women, people who love order, culture, and civility. This party is not a party of hatred, but a party of reason and responsibility. Within its ranks there are educated people, creators, specialists, and precisely this makes it a civilized political force.
We have made mistakes, but we have also known how to reflect. Instead of insults and labels, we have chosen debate and argument. Instead of political revenge, we have chosen democratic coexistence. This is precisely where the civility of the Socialist Party lies. Today it is the most cultured and most civilized force in Albanian political life.
If the country seeks stability, if society seeks peace, and if people seek security, then the voices of reason must be heard. And the Socialist Party is such a voice.

A THREATENED UNDERSTANDING
The newspaper “Rilindja” reported that against 18 deputies of the Kosovo Assembly, elected on Rugova’s independent list and who had joined the Social Democratic group, a lawsuit was being prepared to expel them from the Assembly. The news makes us think that in the Albanian pluralist movement in Kosovo there are still prejudices and forms of pressure that do not serve the necessary national understanding well.
Nothing can justify political exclusion as a method of resolving disputes. Even when there are different positions, they should be confronted through democratic means and not with administrative punishments. In Kosovo, where the Albanian people need unity more than ever, such divisive efforts are harmful.
We believe that the political forces in Kosovo will find ways of understanding and will avoid any act that undermines free political representation.

Chronicle from Bulgaria
“STRELI OPERATION - 93”
– Let’s do it well as we want, – says the prime minister –
According to a dispatch from the agencies, the operation concerned the administration, the movement of personnel, and the effort to consolidate power. Commentators linked this move to the turbulent political situation and to clashes between rival forces. In any case, the term “operation” was used ironically in the local press.
