The chairman of the constitutional drafting commission, Aleksandër Meksi, on the three questions raised by opposition deputies at Friday’s parliamentary session.
The dispute between the hospital doctors and the directorate and the committee sanitation staff continues.
Today is 5 March 1993. You are hereby informed that the session of the special commission for drafting the constitution, scheduled to be held on Saturday, 13 March, did not meet because the deputies of the Socialist Party and the PBDNJ did not take part. Yesterday, Sunday, 14 March, the commission met, but once again the opposition deputies were absent. As a result, the meeting was postponed.
Speaking on this issue, the chairman of the commission, Aleksandër Meksi, said that Albania needs a constitution and not political spectacles. According to him, the delays and behavior of the opposition deputies are harming the process of drafting the fundamental law of the state.
He stressed that the commission is open to all remarks and proposals, but repeated boycotts cannot be tolerated. Meksi added that the work must continue with seriousness and responsibility.
The dispute between the hospital doctors and the directorate and the committee sanitation staff continues.[?]
"THE PARTY OF BIOGRAPHIES" HAS IT BEEN CREATED BY ÇIFTË TOMORR HASAN DOSTI?
With hundreds of sheets and spoons, with so many fingers, necks, neighborhoods and cities, representatives of the same social stratum and the same trade have gathered around this party under the pretext of "biography".
This is a way of keeping alive the spirit of divisions and prejudices from the past. Instead of helping the integration of society and overcoming old conflicts, new barriers are being raised and new forms of exclusion are being created.
From this perspective, the question arises whether we are dealing with a serious political organization or with a gathering around nostalgias and resentments. This kind of politics does not serve the country.

A Test for the President
In short: the new political clash in the country did not arise from society’s need for open debate, but from the way institutions and the symbolism of power are being used.
For several weeks now, there has been an effort to present the presidency as the only center of balance, while the other political sides are portrayed as an obstacle to stability. This is a test for the president: not in the sense of a constitutional test, but in terms of the way the image of the head of state is being built.
If the president is to stand above the parties, this must be proved by measured positions and not by exclusionary rhetoric.

FACTS THAT SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES:
The rampant rise of criminals and thieves
In the month of February, from 25 January to 15 February 1993, according to data from the Directorate of Police, 44 citizens were killed, 79 others were wounded, and a large number of homes and shops were robbed. The number of theft and violence cases has been increasing.
These figures show a climate of acute insecurity and a lack of state control over public order.
