A NEW WAVE OF PURGES IN Berat AND Kuçovë

DO YOU WANT MORE, MR. PRESIDENT A NEW WAVE OF PURGES IN Berat AND Kuçovë S. BERISHA: “The fundamental criterion for administrative reform must be competence at work. No one should be removed from their job for political beliefs,” the presidency and tefelli demand... In recent days, in the districts of Berat and Kuçovë, there have again been senseless personnel changes. Many honest and capable employees were dismissed, and others politically favored were appointed in their place. According to many voices from the grassroots, these actions are contrary to the public statements on administrative reform based on competence and professionalism. In Berat, employees in several important sectors have been dismissed or transferred, while in Kuçovë the same pressure has been felt on specialists and the local administration. Residents and workers have sent complaints to the relevant bodies, asking that legal criteria be respected and that the administration not be used as a tool of political pressure. Many of them recall the public statements made by President Sali Berisha, according to which no one should be fired for political beliefs. However, in practice, the opposite is happening in these districts. This has caused concern and dissatisfaction, especially among families that depend on these jobs. An intervention by central institutions is being requested to stop this new wave of purges and restore normality in the administration.
