The nationalist and chauvinist spirit serves neither the Albanian people nor the Greek people

Statement by the Presidium of the Socialist Party of Albania [very small text, partly unreadable in the image] The irresponsible rise of nationalism and chauvinism, also encouraged by certain political circles in Greece, is seriously harming relations between our two countries and our two peoples. A series of actions and statements, especially regarding the issue of the Greek minority in Albania, have created an undesirable climate of tension. The Socialist Party of Albania believes that respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, including the rights of national minorities, must be part of the democratic process and the rule of law in Albania. At the same time, it opposes any interference in the country's internal affairs and any attempt to use sensitive issues for political pressure. Albanian-Greek relations must develop on the basis of equality, good neighborliness, and mutual respect. Any nationalist or chauvinist spirit serves neither the Albanian people nor the Greek people.
