HOW CAN 160 MILLION LEK BE STOLEN FROM THE SWEAT OF THE PEOPLE

It can be done with the help and blessing of the Democratic Party We do not wish to prolong any further the argument about the illegality of the movements made on the bank account belonging to the Socialist Party. The entire Albanian legal and political opinion has spoken about this. This is also acknowledged by the very authors of these actions. All this makes the statements of the Minister of Finance, Mr. Ridvan Bode, and other officials, that the actions in question were supposedly lawful, completely unfounded. This is simply a banal justification of their entire action, in the absence of legal and political arguments. We do not wish to do politics with the courts, and we do not know how to do politics with the courts. For us, the court is neither anything else nor a tool in our hands. We are convinced that only the competent body can solve the issue of the PS bank account, not the Minister of Finance, not the bank managers, nor incapable pawns and tools. Let it be clear to everyone that the Socialist Party considers, and will continue to consider, all such actions illegal. This means that no banking institution can remain calm if it carries out banking services with accounts that are not its own. It does not fall to the Minister of Finance, nor to other officials, to make decisions about the property of a political party. In the present case, even if one were to claim that such a provision exists, it would be openly arbitrary and contrary to elementary property rights. Everyone knows the amount of money involved. Through this action, funds are intended to be used that were created through the sweat of PS members and sympathizers, from their contributions, and not from any government favor. Therefore, the indignation of the membership and public opinion is great. A government that behaves in this way cannot speak of a state based on the rule of law. It only confirms that it aims to take under control not only political life, but also the material means of its opponents. We have the duty to warn all institutions involved in this process that they bear full responsibility. No one can shelter behind a political order. The money of the Socialist Party is its property and no one can alienate it. Any such action will be opposed with all legal and political means. We call on members, sympathizers, and all citizens to remain vigilant and not accept the normalization of the theft of political property under the guise of administrative decisions. This is not only a matter for the PS, but also a test for Albanian democracy. If today the property of an opposition party is targeted, tomorrow the property of anyone can be targeted. That is why our reaction is firm and principled. Albania needs a state of law, not arbitrariness. The Socialist Party will not give up its rights and will seek the full restoration of legality.

WHEN WILL THE CRIMINALS WHO VIOLATED THE SYMBOLS OF THE NATIONAL LIBERATION ANTI-FASCIST WAR BE BROUGHT TO COURT?

WAITING FOR MR. BERISHA... - Let us follow the example of Germany Of course, we would not have published an article like this with these arguments if the President of the Republic himself had not come out in the last 24 hours with that shameless statement. That statement, apparently, was made at a time when an attempt was being made to give an official character to an indecent, condemnable, and anti-national act. The President’s words cannot in any way justify the desecration of the symbols of the National Liberation Anti-Fascist War. In every serious European country, and not only there, the desecration of symbols linked to the struggle against fascism would be considered a grave act. Germany is the clearest example of how seriously this issue is treated. There, no one dares to play with the symbols of the anti-fascist history, because the law and public morality react immediately. In Albania, on the contrary, there seem to be efforts to present this as a routine matter, as an incident of little importance. This is unacceptable. The symbols of the war are part of our collective memory and of the sacrifices of an entire people. To violate them means to violate history, the blood of the martyrs, and the anti-fascist identity of the country. Anyone who undertakes to defend or relativize such acts also assumes moral and political responsibility for the consequences. We expect the justice authorities to act. If there is a law, it must be equal for all. There can be no double standards: one for ordinary citizens and another for those who enjoy political protection. President Berisha cannot stand above this issue as a distant arbiter. He must clearly state whether he is for punishing the desecration of anti-fascist symbols or for covering up the perpetrators. Albania gains nothing by humiliating its anti-fascist past. On the contrary, it loses dignity and its civilizational orientation. Let us learn from Germany not only in economics, but also in the relationship with history and public responsibility. Only in this way can we build a state that respects memory, the law, and the citizen.

The Socialist Party considers, and will continue to consider, all such actions illegal

- There is no legal norm for transferring the deposits of a political party into the state budget. - Such a violation would constitute an unacceptable arbitrary act. - Applying such a logic would undermine political pluralism and democracy itself. - This issue cannot be resolved through political statements, but only by a decision of the competent body. - Whoever touches the PS bank accounts assumes full legal and financial responsibility.

Attention from European institutions to Albania’s non-principled actions

In an information material prepared for several international organizations, it is pointed out that the practice followed by the Albanian authorities in several political and institutional matters runs counter to European standards. The document emphasizes that respect for political pluralism, the independence of institutions, and the rights of the opposition remains a fundamental condition for approaching Europe. According to the same material, a cause for concern is the intervention of the executive power in matters that should be resolved by independent bodies. In particular, the climate of political tension, the selective use of the law, and the lack of guarantees for fair competition are mentioned. The authors assess that these phenomena damage Albania’s image and hinder the integration process. At the end, the Albanian government is called upon to reconsider its positions and respect democratic rules. Only responsible and transparent institutional behavior can restore the trust of European partners.

The socialist parliamentary group continues its preparatory work for the Assembly

(Continued on page 2) Today’s meeting of the socialist parliamentary group was chaired by its leader, Servet Pëllumbi. The agenda included issues related to the opposition’s position on the draft laws submitted by the government, as well as preparations for the forthcoming Assembly sessions. Socialist deputies expressed concern about the way parliamentary procedures are being bypassed and about the lack of political dialogue. During the discussions it was stressed that the opposition will firmly defend constitutional principles and the interests of citizens. The need for better coordination of parliamentary activity and for a clearer stance on the economic and social issues weighing on the country was also highlighted. In conclusion, the parliamentary group decided to continue consultations and preparatory work for the Assembly, based on a common political platform.
