WHO TOOK PART IN THE ILLEGAL 300,000-DOLLAR SCHEME
The firm «Italba» managed to export a load of cereal grains, raw materials and dyes that had been seized by the state.
The company of Uka and Ruli, as a «vision» in an illegal 300,000-dollar firm.
The financial loss is nothing compared with the colossal damage that has been done to the economy.
At yesterday’s conference of the executive board of the Socialist Party, presented by Namo, in addition to hearing demands for the dismissal from office of the chairman of the association «Shqipëria», of those who are part of both its leadership and its executive staff, the significance of the hundreds of thousands of dollars lost could not help but touch the feelings of most of those present. Namo, being convinced that many of them bear on their shoulders the same burden as he does, perhaps said that in order for it not to be a closed decision-making procedure, he had to do everything he could to prevent this from happening. But why? one of those present asked him.
The fact that the winner of the tender in Albania, which was supposed to bring from Italy several hundred tons of sugar, turned out to be the exact opposite, is now known. But while it became clear that 33 million lek were paid for imports that were never carried out, no one has yet explained how 1,500-2,000 tons of grain were allowed to leave the warehouses under the export label. Part of it, according to the documents presented, was state-seized goods transferred into state administration. For this reason, the economic damage reached figures far higher than those initially mentioned.
During the session, specific names were mentioned, responsibility at the institutional level was discussed, as well as the links in the chain that made the transfer of this quantity possible. The firm «Italba» was mentioned, as were Uka and Ruli, along with their connections to other structures. According to the speakers, the scheme had been disguised as an ordinary commercial activity, whereas in essence it was an illegal operation aimed at quick profit.
The financial loss, it was said in the hall, is nothing compared with the colossal damage done to order and trust in the state. When goods seized or administered by the state can leave warehouses and be exported with suspicious documents, then this is not only a matter of corruption, but a matter of the destruction of every legal norm.
From several interventions it emerged that a full and public investigation was expected. The participants requested that political responsibility be separated from criminal responsibility and that the names of the persons involved be made known. Otherwise, it was said, any declaration of a fight against abuse will remain mere propaganda.
