PD’s Byzantine policy toward PS has failed

PD’s Byzantine policy toward PS has failed At yesterday’s session of the People’s Assembly, the agenda included the start of discussions on the draft law on taxes, submitted for approval by the government. Likewise, since the Parliament’s meeting had been interrupted for several days by the work of parliamentary committees, it was also intended there to briefly examine some current issues related to the progress of reforms, political stability, and recent developments in economic activity. In his speech, Mr. Arben Malaj said that the Socialist parliamentary group had agreed with the view presented by the leadership of the Assembly that, since yesterday’s session would be more of a continuation of the session of 1 May, the draft law on taxes should be considered on Monday, 10 May. Referring to the serious economic situation, Mr. Malaj gave shocking examples of the breakdown of discipline, anarchy, and decisions made without any economic criteria in enterprises, in relations with other state administration institutions, as well as in relations with private entities. The situation created in the Bulqizë mine, the great damage being done to the Ballsh plant, and the chaotic state in many other sectors of the economy, he said, are the result of the government’s incompetence, irresponsibility, and the destruction it is inflicting on the state. Referring to the elections of 31 March 1991, Mr. Arben Malaj said that the head of today’s government had called that result a victory for the conservative forces. He also mentioned that the chairman of the Democratic Party and the President of the Republic had declared the Socialist Party to be an illegitimate political force. He further stressed that the government is continuing a Byzantine policy toward the Socialist Party and that this policy has failed. NOTICE By 12:30 last night, the newspaper had not received from the press office at the Presidency of the Republic the text of the speech by the President of the Republic, Mr. Sali Berisha. Our comment from yesterday. (To be continued on page 4)

MARTYRS — THE IMMORTALITY OF ALBANIA

Who is afraid of ORAL STARA? Who is afraid of ORAL STARA? The bewildered old man Ismail Kadare, with his book against the Albanian cause and the UÇVJ [?], directly attacked ORAL STARA. The author had wanted to kill his figure and his fiery patriotism. However, this was not possible. His attack on ORAL STARA made him even stronger in the national memory. In this article we will focus on the distinguished figure of Oral Stara, his patriotic activity, and his contribution to the Albanian national movement. He remains an honored name in our history. In memory of 5 May

LIBRARY OF THE ASSEMBLY, TIRANA A woman woven into the furrow Or will she not let the word leave her mouth? Or does honor move away from the чужed house? Everywhere the Turk and the Slav numb it Do not let us die while still alive Give us back, O Lord, the table and the bread!
