- PS Chairman FATOS NANO meets with residents of the town of Fushë-Kruja - Twenty-five girls ask to be admitted to the Socialist Party - The district police in Fushë Krujë carry out their duty correctly - The television station known for this meeting does not take part Yesterday at 10 o'clock the steering committee of the Socialist Party of the Krujë district had scheduled the meeting with the residents of Fushë-Kruja in the town center. For security reasons, due to unsettled weather, at the last minute it was decided that the meeting should be held in the House of Culture. The people had also been informed of this. They arrived at the designated place, but a large police force as well as the secret service stood with vehicles in the square in front of the building and would not allow the door to be opened. At the entrance to the road leading into Fushë-Kruja, as well as at every junction leading to the town, the roads were blocked by police forces. The President's delegate, A. Veliu, had also come to the center, but instead of helping ensure the smooth running of the meeting, he became an obstacle to its realization. Regarding this absurd and inhuman act, the leaders of the PS district committee made every effort and proposed to him that, if they feared a large public turnout in the center, the rally should be held in the hall of the House of Culture. But he replied that he had not come on that mission, but to block every electoral activity of the opposition. Finally, after constant pressure, the door of the building was opened and the gathering began. The Chairman of the Socialist Party, Fatos Nano, in his speech focused on the ways out of the crisis and on the socialists' alternative for renewing the country. He emphasized that the opposition had put forward its reasonable demands for a change in the direction of governance, for respect for political and civic rights, for the depoliticization of the administration and the police, and for free and fair elections. Nano said that if the government does not respond to these demands, the country is heading toward a new political solution. He pointed out that unemployment, poverty, the lack of order and security, as well as pressure on the opposition, are driving the country into a dead end. The participants greeted his speech with loud applause and cheers. Many residents of the town also spoke at the meeting, along with workers, pensioners, teachers and young people, who denounced the difficult economic situation, rising prices, lack of work and the pressure exerted on citizens because of political beliefs. Twenty-five young women submitted a request to be admitted to the Socialist Party, which was received with enthusiasm by those present. The correctness of the district police was praised; at the moment the meeting was taking place, it carried out its duty without provocations. The television did not take part in this meeting.
