AFTER TIRANA, ALSO KUÇOVË, TOMORROW GJIROKASTRA...

- Socialists are many. They demand state and city squares - In Tirana they demand the "Skënderbej" square, in Durrës the "Aleksandër Moisiu" square, in Vlorë the "Flag Square", in Fier the "Victory" square, THE POLICE WILL NOT LET THEM! "Regarding the freedom of peaceful assembly and association, there are significant restrictions..." "... Several public gatherings of the opposition Socialist Party have not been allowed to take place in the squares or at the requested time". (ABRIDGED FROM THE REPORT OF THE AMERICAN STATE DEPARTMENT FOR THE SHITP[?]T AND PRACTICE OF AMERICAN HUM[?]ANITY). 4 March — the day of the national protest against violence and the violation of human rights, is a protest to defend the law and freedom, democracy itself and the immobilized people and the established principles of democratic culture in Europe, the USA, etc.!

The enthusiasm of Tirana reaches Kuçovë

The whole continuation[?] of yesterday's Tuesday in Kuçovë took on the nuances of a strong political protest. The Socialists of this district did not hide their anger at the absurd order of the police, which banned the gathering in the square in front of the House of Culture, but nevertheless they organized a protest meeting in the hall of the House of Culture. The hall[?] of the Socialist Party and the front[?] remained filled with hundreds of people who, with powerful ovations and long applause, greeted the speech of the chairman of the PS, Servet Pëllumbi, and the other Socialist leaders who had come to Kuçovë from Tirana. Last night[?] they tried in vain to restore calm in the city center. Young men and women, workers and intellectuals, students and pensioners, former servicemen and war veterans had come out into the city's streets to protest in front of the police station against the order that blocked the Socialist meeting in the square. A crowd of people with candles and the chants "Down with violence" and "We want free speech" turned it into a powerful civic demonstration. Later, hundreds of people from Kuçovë gathered again in the hall, where they heard the messages from Tirana and the promise that the protest would continue. (Continues on page 4)
