Today throughout Albania: NATIONAL PROTEST AGAINST VIOLENCE, VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS FOR FREEDOM, EQUALITY, JUSTICE

Today, colder than ever, we demand respect for human dignity. Today, stronger than ever, a message of freedom for the whole nation. Today throughout Albania: NATIONAL PROTEST AGAINST VIOLENCE, VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS FOR FREEDOM, EQUALITY, JUSTICE - Today, stronger than ever, we demand respect for human dignity. - Today, stronger than ever, a message of freedom for the whole nation. "If democracy is welcoming, if democracy is tolerance, if democracy is consideration for the other, if democracy is protection of the individual from the violence of power, then democracy is not only propaganda." EKREM GOGA (30.1.1939 LETTER TO THE DEPUTIES OF SALLI BERISHA)

Scandalous violations of human rights

Not only because Fatos Nano and other opposition figures are in prison and have long since been turned into political prisoners, but also because during this time in pre-trial detention cells, police stations and prisons, citizens and opposition figures have died or been tortured, something that had never happened before. Under media pressure and a propaganda uproar from the authorities, case after case has shown that serious acts against the law and human dignity have been committed. In these circumstances, the punishment of political opponents and of people who protest against injustice takes on the dimensions of a national scandal. Police violence was used, testimony and trials were fabricated, and the organs of investigation and judgment were abused. This wave of repression has affected families, students, activists and ordinary citizens. When fundamental freedoms are violated and institutions remain silent, peaceful civic protest becomes not only a right, but a moral duty. The people cannot accept terror replacing the law, nor power behaving as the owner of people's lives and destinies.

The official power considers parliamentary government a utopia

The official power considers parliamentary governance an utopia. In recent days, the entire official spirit of propaganda has tried to present any different opinion as destabilization. Instead of a climate of cooperation, political hostility is being encouraged and exclusionary practices are being justified. Parliamentary debate is being devalued, the opposition is being anathematized, and every call for dialogue is described as weakness. This shows that governance is moving away from the standards of a democratic order in which institutions respect one another and in which the majority does not abolish pluralism. Without a culture of compromise and accountability, parliamentary government remains only an empty slogan.

The attitude of the executive power is in a shifting field for us

When decisions need to be made in the public interest and for the integrity of institutions, power gives no account. Instead of transparency and honesty, citizens are served propaganda formulas. For every criticism there is labeling, for every request there is delay, for every civic revolt there is a threat. This behavior is deepening distrust and is leading the country into a crisis of representation. In this climate it is impossible to build normal relations between the state and society.
