ALL OF ALBANIA UNITED ITS VOICE OF PROTEST INTO ONE, DEMANDING FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY, HUMAN DIGNITY AND POLITICAL RIGHTS
- Police forces, openly violating constitutional provisions, trample on fundamental human rights and freedoms, and in many districts prevent peaceful gatherings of socialists
Skanderbeg Square - afternoon of 4 March 1994
The cry of the citizens, for their country, is the same, just as the aim of the police is the same. In Tirana. If throughout the day they have heard only the voices of the policemen and the police, surely in the evening they heard it differently and, through the screen of Albanian Television, saw them in a completely different light.
A Kosovar man, without a uniform and newly arrived the previous day from the areas inhabited by Albanians in Kosovo, took the podium and said that the reason he was at this protest was the prison sentence of Fatos Nano, unjustly and for his political beliefs.
"Azem Hajdari, Fitim Dida, Genc Pollo and other democrats have taken part in all the peaceful demonstrations we have held here. Why are we not worthy of protesting for Fatmir Gjata, if we lived here, for Fatos Nano?"
